After breakfast, we travel onwards to our overnight hotel in Basel, with dinner included. Along the way, we stop in the French city of Strasbourg, which sits on the German border and boasts a lovely Old Town with quaint colourful houses and twisting alleys, the canals of Petit France and the magnificent Strasbourg Cathedral. For 227 years, this imposing sandstone structure was the tallest building in the world and at its summit, the views stretch as far as the Black Forest.

Our journey continues through breathtaking Alpine scenery as we travel via the historic Gotthard Pass into Italy. En route, we pause in Pisa to admire the iconic Leaning Tower and its striking Romanesque cathedral, before reaching our hotel in the elegant spa town of Montecatini.

We travel by coach to Florence, a city that embodies the spirit of the Renaissance and overflows with artistic and architectural splendour. Enjoy a day at your own pace in the elegant spa town of Montecatini Terme. Choose to relax at one of the town's historic thermal baths, take a stroll through its leafy parks and piazzas or ride the charming funicular up to Montecatini Alto for sweeping views and a leisurely lunch at your leisure. However you spend the day, it's a perfect opportunity to unwind and soak up the relaxed rhythm of Tuscan life.

We leave Montecatini Terme and travel to Rome via Siena in central Tuscany - a beautifully-preserved hilltop city surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, best known for its Palio horse race which takes place each summer in the Piazza del Campo. After time enjoying the square and admiring the medieval brick buildings, we continue south to our hotel on the outskirts of Rome, where we stay for two nights.

We explore the Eternal City on a guided tour, allowing you to fully appreciate the rich history and iconic sights. Highlights may include the Colosseum, Roman Forum and the grandeur of St. Peter's Square. Afterwards, there's time to wander at your own pace, enjoy a coffee in a sunlit piazza or visit a favourite museum before an evening at leisure to dine as you wish and soak up Rome's vibrant atmosphere.

Today we visit Bassano del Grappa, a picturesque town located in the Veneto region of Italy, known for its stunning medieval architecture and the iconic wooden bridge, Ponte degli Alpini. This charming town offers a blend of history and culture, with several museums and art galleries to explore. It is also famous for its production of grappa, a unique Italian spirit.

We spend time in Venice, a city renowned for its beauty, architecture and artwork. We enjoy a guided tour of this 'Floating City' with over 400 bridges and 177 canals. Venice is known as the 'City of Bridges' and attracts visitors from all over the world to view its wonderful monuments, houses and squares, such as the Piazza San Marco, which contains St. Marks Basilica. Other highlights include the Bridge of Sighs, the Doge's Palace and of course the gondolas that ply their trade up and down the canals.

We travel to the romantic city of Verona, famed as the setting for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. On arrival, enjoy time to explore its atmospheric streets, from the ancient Roman Arena to Juliet's legendary balcony. Wander through elegant piazzas and perhaps pause for a final gelato. In the evening, we gather to share a farewell dinner - a chance to reflect on the journey, savour regional cuisine and toast to the memories made along the way! Afterwards, we head to our overnight stay in Piemonte.
