Calling all Game of Thrones fans join us as we head to Belfast on an amazing magical adventure. HBO’s Game of Thrones award-winning TV series is a global phenomenon. This epic fantasy series has broadened people’s imaginations not only to other fantasy worlds but also to our own. Fans of the show are now flocking to Northern Ireland’s stunning Causeway coast and glens where much of the series was filmed. This Belfast based tour takes you to Castle Ward, used as the location of Winterfell, where we embark upon a castle orientation tour for an immersive Game of Thrones experience. We also visit the Game of Thrones Studio Tour where we journey through the making of Game of Thrones, beginning at The Wall in the vast and frozen North and all that lies in the darkness beyond! Take a epic scenic tour visiting various Game of Thrones filming locations with plenty of photo opportunities along the way. This exciting tour also includes a two-hour guided tour of Belfast with free time to explore. Don’t miss out on this Insta worthy adventure.
Itinerary
Sunday:
Depart Leyland at 8.00am for our journey to Cairnryan in Scotland to board our Stena Line ferry to Belfast in Northern Ireland with a suitable lunch stop en-route. Re-join the coach to disembark in Belfast and continue our journey to our hotel for the next four nights.
Monday - Wednesday:
Full day tour - following breakfast join us as we make the short journey into Belfast to meet our guide who will join us onboard the coach for a two-hour guided tour of this wonderful city. Followed by free time to explore.
Full day tour - following breakfast depart on an epic, scenic drive that takes in some famous Game of Thrones filming locations starting at Carrickfergus Castle. Head to Carnlough Village, recognisable by its stony staircase leading down to the sea, filmed as part of the Free City of Braavos Canal, where Arya Stark crawled up from the waters after being stabbed by the Waif. On to Dunluce Castle, Game of Thrones fans often wonder if Dunluce Castle was a filming location for Westeros and the answer is, yes it was! Larry Bane Quarry, the area near the quarry was used as the location of Nagga's Hill. This was where Yara Greyjoy attempted to lay claim to the Iron Throne, only to be thwarted by their uncle, Euron Greyjoy. Visit the mystical Dark Hedges, known to Game of Thrones fans as the Kingsroad, this is where Arya Stark flees King's Landing, in the back of a cart, disguised as a boy. With plenty of photo opportunities along the way. Includes a suitable lunch stop too.
Full day tour - following breakfast sharpen your sword and tighten your shield strap! This morning, head to National Trust's Castle Ward which provided the location for Winterfell in the first series. You will be met by a 'Master at Arms' tour guide, dressed in costume, and taken on a Castle orientation tour. Afternoon visit to the Game of Thrones Studio Tour located at the authentic filming location of Linden Mill Studios, here you step behind the scenes of The Seven Kingdoms and beyond. See how one of the world's greatest ever TV series was created and brought to life on screen.
Thursday:
Check out of our hotel following breakfast, head to Belfast Port to board our Stena Line ferry and bid farewell to Northern Ireland, sail back across to Cairnryan in Scotland, re-join the coach to disembark and continue our journey home with a suitable meal stop en-route.
