Join us as we head to medieval Ludlow for our Super Shopshire tour. Stay in the beautiful historic Feathers Hotel, with authentic half-timbered Tudor façade, a slice of history within the heart of the picturesque market town. Spend free time experiencing 900 years of history in Ludlow’s historic streets and quiet lanes. Visit Ironbridge within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ironbridge Gorge with a visit to the wonderful Blist Hill Victorian Town. Travel to Bridgnorth with time to explore Bridgnorth’s High Town and Low Town before we step back in time on a magical steam train journey on the Severn Valley Railway to Arley, the glorious rural station, star of many TV productions including Netflix’s Enola Holmes and Oh, Dr Beeching!. Arley is a beautiful riverside village, a true hidden gem, our journey also combines a visit to Arley Arboretum and Gardens, renowned for their stunning beauty. Monday
Depart Leyland at 09.30hrs for our journey to the historic Feathers Hotel in Ludlow with a suitable lunch stop en-route
Tuesday
This morning following breakfast we travel to the Ironbridge Gorge a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site, visit the pretty riverside town of Ironbridge with a visit to Blist Hill Victorian Town, time travel and experience the sights, sounds and smells of Victorian life.
Wednesday
Free day in Ludlow on market day with time to explore, allowing time for lunch, perhaps treat yourself and book an afternoon tea at The Feathers or something lovely from the tea-rooms, or maybe visit the castle, the museum, St Laurence's Church or the wonderful eclectic mix of shops, cafes and inns.
Thursday
Following breakfast todays excursion takes us to Bridgnorth, one of the busiest river ports in Europe, nowadays the River Severn is clear and unpolluted, a haven for wildlife. The river divides the town into High Town and Low Town being linked by seven sets of ancient donkey steps or the wonderful Victorian Funicular, the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway. The oldest and steepest inland funicular railway takes a heavenly journey at least 150 times a day. Whichever way you choose to the top, you can enjoy King Charles's View should you wish from Castle Walk. Take a step back in time as we travel from Bridgnorth to Arley on the Severn Valley Railway, followed by a visit to Arley Arboretum and Gardens.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for our journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
