Join us as we head to the beautiful county of Devon for our Milling Around Devon Tour. Visit nearby Exeter, the small historic city with so much to offer its visitors, one of the most vibrant, attractive, and historically interesting cities in England with a guided tour of the magnificent cathedral, Lady Chapel and Bishop’s Palace to enhance your visit. Head to the coast to Exmouth, to travel by boat and train, a distinctively different way to explore two of Devon’s charming towns, lively Exmouth, and quaint Topsham. With visits to the grand 18th century, Killerton House and historic gardens set within beautiful Devon countryside and Coldharbour Mill, one of the best-preserved textile mill complexes in the country, relive the sights and sounds of the Industrial Revolution at this wonderful heritage mill, see the stunning 18th century waterwheel in action, the biggest of its kind still in use in the UK. Don’t miss out on the great tour to the West Country with a wonderful itinerary to ensure you get the very best form the area.
Itinerary
Monday
Depart Leyland at 09.00hrs for our journey to the Devon Hotel with a suitable lunch stop en-route. Arrive to a warm Devon welcome with tea/coffee and biscuits while your luggage is taken care of.

Tuesday
Following breakfast travel the short distance into Exeter for free time to explore and a visit to its magnificent cathedral. Visit Lady Chapel, marvel at the decoration of the vaulting and take a Bishop's Palace Tour. Enjoy unique views of Exeter Cathedral, discover the history behind the tranquil surroundings of Devon's oldest inhabited home which has been lived in by Bishops since the 13th century.

Wednesday
This morning following breakfast we travel along the shores of the River Exe to the lively town of Exmouth with free time to explore before taking a River Exe Cruise from Exmouth Marina to Topsham Quay, you will have time to explore the quaint town before we board our train to journey along the Avocet Line alongside the Exe Estuary back to Exmouth.

Thursday
Following breakfast this morning's journey takes us to Killerton House, a grand 18th century Georgian house, housing a historic fashion collection, and a Grade I listed chapel, surrounded by historic parkland and glorious gardens of historic significance. Theres even a thatched structure nestled between the trees that used to house the family's pet bear. In the afternoon we immerse ourselves at Coldharbour Mill as the Industrial Revolution is brough to life. Largely untouched since Victorian time Coldharbour remains in production using heritage looms, wool spinning machines, power sources of the era and machinery to produce beautiful textiles and yarns. This wonderful attraction is recognised by Historic England as one of the best preserved and important textile mill complexes in the country.

Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
