Itinerary
Scarborough, Heartbeat Country & York
Step into Heartbeat country on this delightful seven-day holiday! Many of its iconic scenes were filmed locally in Yorkshire, including the picturesque and recognisable village of Goathland, the fictional Aidensfield in the beloved series. We discover plenty more highlights of the region too, including storied Whitby, quaint Hornsea, atmospheric York and more, all from our base in the ever-popular seaside resort of Scarborough, with its award-winning beaches and traditional attractions galore.

Scarborough, Heartbeat Country & York
Our first visit takes us to the pretty village of Goathland, hidden away in the stunning North York Moors National Park. The village has attracted visitors since the 19th century, but Goathland's popularity has soared since its appearance as Aidensfield in the hit TV series Heartbeat and its role in the Harry Potter films.
Next we travel to the charming coastal town of Whitby, famed for its connection to Bram Stoker's Dracula and for its striking jet jewellery. Wander around the busy harbour before tackling the climb up to the atmospheric ruined abbey perched on the cliffs. Whitby was also once the home of the famous explorer Captain Cook, who lived here as an apprentice and is now immortalised as a local hero with a museum dedicated to his life and accomplishments and an impressive statue that looks out to sea.

Scarborough, Heartbeat Country & York
We head to the lovely market town of Beverley, one of Yorkshire's best-kept secrets, boasting quaint courtyards, cobbled streets and historic buildings. The lovely 13th-century Minster is well worth a visit, renowned for its medieval stone carvings and pretty stained glass, and there is also a range of lovely boutiques, cafés and pubs.
For the perfect mix of town and coast, we then make our way to the charming seaside town of Hornsea. Browse the shops for some famous Hornsea pottery, enjoy a stroll on the Blue Flag beach or admire the largest freshwater lake in Yorkshire, home to a whole host of bird species.

Scarborough, Heartbeat Country & York
The historic city of York awaits. Highlights include the beautiful York Minster, the JORVIK Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum, or you may like to wander around the ancient walls which surround the city before heading to the charming 'Shambles', a warren of narrow lanes and overhanging buildings dating back to medieval times.

Scarborough, Heartbeat Country & York
We start our day of seaside fun with a visit to the delightful resort of Bridlington. There is plenty to see and do here with its sandy beaches, wonderful promenade and picturesque, bustling harbour as well as the Old Town, full of quaint shops and cafés. Next stop is the quaint resort of Filey, full of olde-worlde charm and boasting a five-mile stretch of sandy beach as well as some of the most spectacular sea views on the Yorkshire coast.
