Join us as we head to the outskirts of Grantham for our Three Counties and Glorious Grantham Tour. Enjoy this beautiful area, conveniently located to allow us to visit three counties on our day excursions. Discover the attractive, industrial market town, birthplace of Margaret Thatcher. Travel through scenic countryside of the Lincolnshire Wold’s and Leicestershire. Visit bustling, historic market towns of Stamford, Louth and Melton Mowbray. Includes excursions to The World of Wedgwood in Staffordshire to discover the V&A Wedgwood Collection and The National Memorial Arboretum, the magnificent living memorial that recognize service and sacrifice, a beautiful place to quietly contemplate amongst a woodland landscape with a collection of around 400 memorials waiting to be discovered. Itinerary
Sunday:
Depart Leyland at 10am for our journey to The Olde Barn Hotel with a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum with time for lunch in the coffee shop or restaurant en-route.
Monday:
Half day tour - Morning to relax at the hotel and enjoy the facilities with an afternoon visit to historic Grantham in Lincolnshire, filled with heritage, famous for gingerbread biscuits and being the birthplace of Isaac Newton and former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher.
Tuesday:
Full day - Following breakfast Visit to the bustling market town of Stamford, proclaimed by Sir Walter Scott as the 'finest stone town in England' now a conservation area with over 600 listed buildings including five medieval churches with quaint streets, with time to explore and have some lunch before travelling to Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, spend the afternoon in the home of Pork Pies and Stilton cheese.
Wednesday:
Long half day - Take a scenic drive through the Lincolnshire Wolds to visit to the unique Georgian town of Louth on market day. The town is hailed by TV chefs The Hairy Bikers as a 'Foodie Mecca'.
Thursday:
Check out of the hotel following breakfast for the return journey with a lunch stop at The World of Wedgwood in Staffordshire, view the Wedgwood V&A Collection, with time to discover the grounds, visit the café and shops before continuing our journey home.
