Join us as we head to the beautiful Elan Valley in Wales to our hotel in the centre of Llandrindod Wells for our Taste of Mid Wales tour. Excursions on the tour include heritage steam train rides that take you back to yesteryear as you travel through the spectacular scenery of Mid Wales and the Brecon Mountains. Discover medieval Powis Castle that rises magnificently above its beautiful gardens. Explore the Elan Valley from the visitor centre with a scenic drive to enjoy this unspoilt area of breath-taking natural beauty, dams and reservoirs, a haven for wildlife. Take a guided tour and taste Welsh Whisky at Penderyn Distillery, Wales’ first Whisky distillery in over 100 years. Don’t miss out on this wonderful tour to give you a great taste of what this beautiful area of Mid Wales has to offer.
Itinerary
Monday
Depart Leyland at 10.00am for our journey to Llandrindod Wells with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
Tuesday - Thursday
Join us for a morning visit to Powis Castle and Gardens in Welshpool, with an afternoon visit to the Elan Valley Visitor Centre and scenic journey through the valley.
Take a return journey on the Rheidol Railway from Aberystwyth to Devils Bridge and back again with free time to explore Aberystwyth before returning to the hotel.
Take a magical return journey on the Brecon Mountain Railway from Pant, Merthyr Tydfil to Torpantau with a stop in Pontsticill for a photo opportunity and to admire the breath-taking views. Later in the afternoon we visit Penderyn Distillery, home to Welsh Whisky for a guided tour and tasting.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for the return journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
