Join us as we head to Southern Ireland to the popular Treacys Enniscorthy Hotel for our taste of Wexford tour. Explore our base Enniscorthy, an old Norman settlement on the banks of the winding River Slaney in County Wexford. Enjoy a wonderful food and entertainments package at the hotel which gives a taste of Wexford. Visit Kilkenny, one of Ireland’s most cosmopolitan, historical cities with a visit to the Smithwick’s Experience in the city to discover the story of the oldest ale in Ireland with a local guide and a chance to sample the ale. Take a stroll along the River Slaney, lined with colourful buildings or wander lively medieval streets on a visit to Wexford. Monday
Depart Leyland at 10.00am for our journey to Holyhead with a suitable lunch stop en-route, in Holyhead board the 14.10 Irish Ferries across to Dublin Port, re-join the coach to continue our journey to Treacy's hotel in Enniscorthy arriving in time for our evening meal.
Tuesday - Thursday
Free time in Enniscorthy with the following excursions:
Full day tour - following breakfast travel to Kilkenny, one of Irelands most cosmopolitan cities with some of Ireland's best craft shopping right in the heart of Ireland's Ancient East, spend free time exploring with time for lunch, in the afternoon we visit the Smithwick's Experience located in Kilkenny's Medieval Mile., enjoy a guided tour with a local guide, learn of the history of Ireland's oldest ale followed by a tasting.
Half day tour - Following breakfast we head to the estuary of the River Slaney to visit the historic town of Wexford, uncover the towns fascinating history as you wander its winding medieval streets, discover it's Viking past. Walk along the River Slaney, see the bright, colourful buildings that line the waters edge, take time to enjoy lunch in one of Wexfords many pubs, cafes and restaurants before we head back for free time in Enniscorthy.
On one afternoon at the hotel there will be a 'how to pull' a Guinness pint demonstration with a pint or glass of Guinness for each guest, and a cooking demonstration of Jamesons soda bread at 1800 on one of the days (this will be served to guests during their stay on 1 night).
Friday- Check out of our hotel following breakfast, travel to Dublin Port via Glendalough in the Wicklow Mountains National Park, one of Ireland's most beautiful visitors' destinations. Visitors have been drawn to the area for thousands of years for its spectacular scenery, rich history, monastic city archaeology and abundant wildlife, a great place for our final stop before we bid farewell to the Emerald Isle. Continue our journey via Greystones and Bray to Dublin Port where we will board the 14.45 Stena Line ferry to Holyhead, re-join the coach to disembark and continue our journey home.
