Join us as we head to Coleraine for our Causeway Chronicles and Legend-Derry Tour. Discover Ireland’s rugged northern coastline, the stuff of myths, legends and of course…giants. Travel along the scenic Causeway Coast to visit the Giant’s Causeway. Take a guided tour of Bushmills Distillery, considered to be the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world. Journey to Magilligan Point to board the scenic Lough Foyle foot ferry across to Greencastle in Inishowen County Donegal, a busy fishing port with many fine tourist attractions. Explore Derry on a guided walking tour around the 17th century city walls, St Columbs Cathedral and historic Guildhall with a commentary covering the city’s origins, the Troubles and more recently TV fame with the Derry Girls. Don’t miss out on this great tour that gives you a taste of what Northern Ireland has to offer and will leave you wanting more.
Itinerary
Monday
Depart Leyland at 08.00am for our journey to Cairnryan in Scotland to board our Stena Line ferry to Belfast with a suitable lunch stop en-route. Re-join our coach in Belfast to continue our journey to Coleraine and our hotel for the next four nights.
Tuesday-Thursday
Full day tour - travel along the scenic Causeway Coast via Portrush at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Giant's Causeway visit the award-winning visitor centre. Next you can walk or take a bus down (additional charge paid locally) to the coastal path and the 40,000 interlocking hexagonal columns, some up to 12m high. From there we head inland to the village of Bushmills, for a guided tour in home to the world's oldest licensed whiskey distillery.
Full day tour - This morning we head to Magilligan Point to take the scenic Lough Foyle foot Ferry across to Greencastle in Inishowen County Donegal, a busy fishing port with many fine tourist attractions located near the start of the Wild Atlantic Way. Here we visit the Inishowen Maritime Museum & Planetarium followed by free time to explore the harbour before retuning by foot ferry to County Londonderry.
Full day tour - This morning we journey to Derry, Londonderry where we join our knowledgeable guide for a guided walking tour around the 17th century city walls, St Columbs Cathedral and historic Guildhall with a commentary covering the city's origins, the Troubles and more recently TV fame with the Derry Girls. Followed by an afternoon of free time to relax and explore at leisure.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast as we head to Belfast Port and bid farewell to Northern Ireland, travel by Stena Line ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan in Scotland, when we arrive in Cairnryan, re-join the coach for our journey home with a suitable meal stop en-route.
