Join us as we head to the cultural hub of Newcastle for our North East Delights tour. Newcastle serves as a great base for this exciting, packed tour of Northern history and heritage. Included are guided tours of this wonderfully vibrant city and two National Trust properties at Wallington House and Cragside where we will discover the past of three of the most powerful and influential families in the North East of England. Friday
Depart Leyland at 10.00am for our journey to the North East and our hotel in Newcastle, with a suitable lunch stop en-route
Saturday-Sunday
This morning following breakfast our guide joins us on the coach for a guided tour of Newcastle. Experience how the city has dramatically changed from carrying coal to becoming the cultural hub it is today. Discover its heritage from Roman origins. Highlights include Old Newcastle, the castle and cathedral quarters, Grainger Town - discover Earl Grey, Quayside and hidden gems along the way. Following the tour enjoy free time to explore the city.
This morning following breakfast our guide will join us on the coach for the day. Today we uncover the stories of some of the North East's most influential families as we visit two wonderful National Trust properties, at Wallington House learn of wealthy mine owners and political influencers and Cragside's industrialist, inventor, and philanthropists' past.
Monday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast. Enjoy a visit to Ava Travel favourite, the Beamish Open Air Living Museum, set within 300 acres of beautiful, Durham countryside, the museum takes us on a journey of life in North East England through the 1820's, 1900's, 1940's during WWII, 1950's and much more, take unlimited free rides on the Beamish Tram to get you around this wonderful museum. Following our visit continue our journey home.
