Join us as we head to the Yorkshire coast to Scarborough for our Scarborough and Whitby Long Weekend. Explore the elegant seaside town of Scarborough, home to modern entertainment and attractions. Journey along the coast road to Whitby famous for Captain Cook, Dracula and of course fish and chips. Take a scenic journey through the beautiful countryside of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park with a stop in Pickering. Includes a visit to the historic city of York. Don’t miss out on this great Yorkshire long weekend.
Itinerary
Friday
Depart Leyland at 10.00am for our journey to Scarborough with a suitable lunch stop en-route
Saturday
Today we enjoy a free day to relax at the hotel or explore Scarborough and the varied attractions it has to offer. Explore the town with its indoor market sand antique shops or walk up to Scarborough's fortress and enjoy the view across the bays.
Sunday
This morning following a leisurely breakfast we head north following the coast road to Whitby, the famous fishing port that was once the home of Captain James Cook. High above the picturesque harbour stands the 7th century Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula, we have time to wander the narrow streets and busy harbourside, allowing you time to perhaps sample the famous Whitby Fish and Chips, take a scenic journey back to Scarborough across the North Yorkshire Moors National Park with a stop in Pickering before returning to the hotel.
Monday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast, before heading home we visit York, explore the historic walled city with time for lunch, departing York at 15.00hrs to continue our journey home.
