Description
Following a morning of shopping and dining at Oswaldtwistle Mills, we are joined by a guide for a ‘Tudor Tales’ themed coach tour of the area. The tour starts with a view of the magnificent Samlesbury Hall, one of the top 10 most haunted houses in England. Hoghton Tower is next, with historic connections to William Shakespeare, James I and VI of Scotland, and the knighting of Sir Loin of Beef. We pass through Clayton-le-Moors (so named for the ‘clay on the moors’) and hear of its connections with the Lancashire cotton workers and Irish navigators, before finishing with a fascinating visit to England’s largest village, Whalley.
