Itinerary
Monday: We depart the Travel Centre this morning as we head north, making comfort stops en route, arriving at the hotel late this afternoon.

Tuesday: After breakfast, we visit Barnard Castle, an historic market town which takes its name from the castle around which it grew. In the afternoon we visit Bowes Museum, a Grade 1 listed French-style château in the picturesque market town of Barnard Castle. One of the most important museums outside of London featuring stunning galleries and top class exhibitions.

Wednesday: After breakfast, our first stop is at Locomotion in Shildon. Known as the world’s first railway town, Shildon has had an exciting story to tell since the earliest days of the rail industry, making it the perfect place to explore the rich seam of local railway history and discover how the railways have changed all our lives. In the afternoon we journey to Alston for a return journey on the South Tynedale Railway to Slaggyford, which follows the former route of British Rail’s Haltwhistle to Alston branch line.

Thursday: After breakfast, we visit Raby Castle, one of England’s finest medieval castles. A seriously impressive fortress standing proud and defiant, with a history of almost a thousand years. The Victorian and Regency interiors are as opulent as the exterior is imposing, showcasing porcelain and sculpture ranging from Victorian copper cooking utensils to The Raby Tapestry.

Friday: After breakfast, we depart the hotel to make our way back to Leicestershire, with comfort stops en route, arriving back at the Travel Centre this afternoon.
