Itinerary
Skipton & KWVR
We head along the Aire Valley to Skipton, 'gateway to the Dales.' The main street houses the well-known market and Skipton Castle, sitting proudly at the top of the street. After free time here, we continue to Haworth for our lunch break, a charming hilltop village with links to the Bronte Family. This afternoon we enjoy a nostalgic steam train journey on board the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Line, passing key locations used in many TV shows and films, including 'The Railway Children' and 'Last of the Summer Wine'.
Settle & Wensleydale
We join England's most scenic railway at Settle, passing through the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, crossing the famous Ribblehead Viaduct and stopping at Dent, the highest mainline station in England. We re-join the coach for a short journey into Hawes, main town of the dale, before continuing past Agysgarth to join the Wensleydale Railway, a unique and exciting project to restore train services along the whole of Wensleydale.
Bolton Abbey
Enjoy a visit to Bolton Abbey, a ruined Abbey and Priory set in a beautiful, tranquil location along River Wharfe. We have time for a stroll through this beautiful landscape, part of the Duke of Devonshire's estate. Continuing through beautiful Yorkshire Dales scenery, we then make for the village of Grassington, with its cobbled streets, quaint alleyways lined with shops and cosy eateries.
