Description
HIGHLIGHTS: Cragside House & Gardens, Alnwick Castle & Gardens, Bamburgh & Bamburgh Castle

Among the rolling hills of the Cheviots and the valley of the River Tyne lies some of the finest gardens in the country. First we visit the award winning Alnwick Castle & Gardens - the vision and triumphal achievement of the Duchess of Northumberland. Here the amazing gardens and water features surrounding the majestic castle are almost as well known for being a TV and film location as they are for being a popular tourist attraction. We also explore Cragside House and Gardens, the creation of Lord Armstrong and the first house to have electricity, set amid wonderful formal and rock gardens, lakes and woodlands.

**Please note it is a condition of travel with Grand UK, for all passengers to hold valid travel insurance for the duration of their tour.**

Excursions
FULL DAY: Today we visit Alnwick Castle and Gardens, home of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland and seat of the Percy family for the past 700 years. Here you can discover the iconic castle, used as a backdrop in many films over the years as well as enjoying the beautiful gardens, the dream of the Duchess of Northumberland and now regarded as one of the finest gardens in Britain.

FULL DAY: A glorious day exploring the Northumbrian coastline today as we travel to lovely Bamburgh, where we include admission to its majestic and iconic castle that overlooks the resort. Afterwards enjoy some time to explore its quaint teashops, expansive beach and Grace Darling museum before we visit the fishing port of Seahouses - popular for its fish and chips - before returning via the coast past Druridge Bay.

FULL DAY: A visit to Cragside House & Gardens today, an impressive Victorian mansion built for Lord Armstrong and the first house in the world to have electricity. Enjoy the magnificent gardens, lakes and unique Orchard House, all set over 900 acres.
