Excursions
FULL DAY: We head to Chester for a fascinating walking tour of this fine city. Led by a qualified local guide, the tour will bring to life more than 2,000 years of history, dating back to the Romans, and includes many of the must-see historic secrets. In the afternoon we take a memorable cruise on the River Dee, taking us beneath the city's suspension bridge, past Grosvenor Park, the Earl's Eye and out into the 'meadows'.
FULL DAY: Today we head deep into the Cheshire countryside for a truly amazing experience at the Anderton Boat Lift. We take a boat trip on the elegant Edwin Clark and cruise through this unique structure which highlights the ingenuity of the great Victorian engineers. In the afternoon we head to Tatton Park, on the outskirts of Knutsford. A splendid Georgian mansion overlooks an extensive landscaped park, where you can find an orangery, a Japanese garden with a Shinto temple, and an Italian garden.
FULL DAY: Across the rolling hills and valleys of the Peak District today to visit Chatsworth House and its beautiful gardens. Known as the 'Palace of the Peaks' the interior rooms are treasure troves of magnificent furniture and paintings, while the gardens are some of England's finest.

Joining Your Grand UK Coach Holiday
For 2024 we have introduced improvements to our network of local pick up points across the eastern, central and southern England, aimed at shortening your journey times and getting you away on holiday more easily and conveniently, meaning an altogether more relaxing start. We now have two pick up regions so your travel days will be more convenient, providing more efficient journeys, meeting your tour manager and fellow travellers earlier and in most cases arriving in resort earlier, please refer to our Pick-ups section below for more details.
The Tour Ref below indicates whether the tour departs from Area A or Area B by having either an A or B at the end. For example, GUK5A would be a tour departing from Area A.

Traveling from Departure Area A: Be picked up from your free local departure point, and join your tour coach at our interchange area at Northampton Services on the M11, at junction 15A.
Traveling from Departure Area B: Be picked up from your free local departure point, and join your tour coach at our interchange area at Beaconsfield Services, M40, junction 2.
