Take a stroll out along the Esplanade, passing the grand parade of Edwardian and Victorian houses, to the beach at Readymoney Cove overlooked by the medieval St Catherine's Castle guarding the harbour entrance. NB the parking is at the top of the town with a steep walk down. A shuttle bus service down to the centre operates in the main season. Re-board the coach to head along the Cornish coast to pretty Polperro. The impossibly picturesque village squeezes down the valley to a small harbour where tiny fisherman's cottages and sail lofts hang off the rocks.
