Description
Enjoy the spectacular scenery of South Lakeland, Coniston and the heart of the Lake District as we tour the area, stopping for breaks in three contrasting lakeland towns. Our first port of call is Grange-over-Sands, where you will find natural beauty, old-fashioned friendliness, and plenty of peace and quiet. Relax at one of the cafes, see the ducks on the pond in the Ornamental Gardens, or take a stroll on the promenade, a level walkway (suitable for pushchairs & wheelchairs) along the edge of Morecambe Bay. Then it's on to the popular market town of Ambleside, a walker's paradise and known by purists as 'the true Lake District.' Surrounded by majestic Lakeland fells, Ambleside’s roots are in the medieval woollen trade, but the town you see today is primarily Victorian, built of traditional grey slate. Our day ends with some free time in Bowness-on-Windermere. This sprawling tourist town is a wonderful place just to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the area and the town’s delightful setting. There are plenty of independent shops to explore, and tourist attractions such as Windermere Lake Cruises and the World of Beatrix Potter.
