Description
Join us on this new day excursion to picturesque Bakewell for its popular market. There are many shops clustered around the marketplace and a Tourist Information Centre that is worth a visit. Next, it’s on to Tissington for its magnificent Well Dressings, a fascinating Derbyshire tradition that involves decorating wells and springs with beautiful petals and other natural materials. This ancient custom reputedly began after the plague, as Tissington was one of the very few villages that escaped the deadly disease, and therefore each year a thanksgiving to the source of pure water was given. There are usually six Well Dressings to see in Tissington.
