Description
Our base for this tour will be the 4-star Salthouse Harbour Hotel, situated on the Ipswich waterfront. We will visit Suffolk, a county filled with natural beauty and bordered by 50 miles of glorious coastline.
A visit to Suffolk would not be complete without a visit to Sutton Hoo, the hauntingly beautiful 255-acre estate which is home to one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time.
We will also visit Helmingham Hall Gardens, where they themselves say that “It is hard to exaggerate the effect this beautiful park, with its red deer, spectacular moated Hall in mellow patterned red brick with its famous gardens will have on the visitor.” And they aren't wrong, there's a magical feel to this peaceful estate.
Itinerary
Monday: We depart the Travel Centre this morning and make our way east with a stop en route, arriving at the hotel late afternoon.

Tuesday: Today we enjoy a tour along the picturesque Suffolk coast, starting with a visit to Southwold, complete with its famous painted beach huts and lovely pier, before continuing to the pretty village of Thorpeness, with its pretty mock Tudor houses and the fairy-tale ‘House in the Clouds’. We enjoy free time here before continuing to Aldeburgh, which retains features from a bygone era.

Wednesday: Today, we enjoy a guided tour at the world-famous Anglo-Saxon burial site of Sutton Hoo. We discover the story of the ship burial of an Anglo-Saxon king, explore the award-winning exhibition and the full-size reconstruction of the burial chamber (please note, the walk to the burial mounds is a 10–15-minute outdoor walk on flat ground, passengers who are less mobile can visit the exhibition, café and small shop).

Thursday: This morning, we enjoy free time relaxing and exploring the beautiful marina surrounding our hotel, before travelling to the spectacular Grade I Listed Helmingham Hall Gardens where we have time for lunch before exploring at our own pace.

Friday: We bid a fond farewell to the hotel staff this morning as we make our way back to Hugglescote, arriving back this afternoon.
