Description
The beautiful Lake District National Park is one of the most popular holiday destinations for people across the UK, and with very good reason! This tour is set within the spectacular scenery of one of the world's most impressive national parks, allowing us to soak in the views and atmosphere while cruising some of the most famous waters.
Itinerary
Monday: We depart the Travel Centre this morning and make our way north, making adequate comfort stops before arriving at the hotel late afternoon.

Tuesday: We enjoy a scenic drive through the picturesque Lake District today, travelling north via Windermere then Ambleside, the head of England’s largest natural lake where we can spot the pretty Bridge House as we pass. We then journey through the picture-postcard village of Grasmere – named after its adjacent lake and home to Wordsworth when he wrote his famous poem, “I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud”, inspired by the flowers and scenery of the Lake District – and finally onto Keswick. We spend time at leisure exploring this lovely market town nestled between the majestic Skiddaw mountain and the serene lake of Derwentwater, with plenty of shops, restaurants and museums to browse.

Wednesday: This morning we drive to Pooley Bridge where we have some free time to browse the local shops in this quaint village before heading to the pier to embark on a 1 hour Ullswater steamer cruise to Glenridding, on the south side of the lake. Afterwards we head south to the pretty villages of Coniston & Hawkshead, these villages are quintessential Lake District with cobbled streets, squares and courtyards surrounded by beautiful, whitewashed slate cottages. The surrounding scenery is some of the finest in the Lake District and can be enjoyed on a pleasant stroll or from the comfort of one of the many tea rooms.

Thursday: We make our way to Lakeside pier this morning, where we board our boat to enjoy a 40 minute cruise around the south of Lake Windermere, arriving at Bowness on Windermere. We then have time at leisure over lunchtime and in the afternoon to explore the Lake District’s most popular visitor destination. Cruises arrive at jetties at the lakeside and only a short walk takes you into the heart of this Victorian town, popular with tourists since the mid-1800s and brimming with art galleries, antique shops, independent gift shops, and local artisan food producers.

Friday: We bid a fond farewell to the hotel this morning and make our way back to Leicestershire with adequate comfort stops en route, arriving back in Hugglescote late this afternoon.
