Devon Coast, Castle and Cruise

Find your happy place in South Devon, with its unspoilt coast and countryside, the landscape is the perfect backdrop for a relaxing escape.
We will be staying at the Langstone Cliff Hotel which has magnificent sea views.Monday: We depart the Travel Centre this morning and make our way to Dawlish with a stop en route. We aim to arrive at the hotel late afternoon.

Tuesday: This morning we take a 90-minute cruise on the River Dart between the delightful and unique towns of Dartmouth and Totnes. Once we arrive in Totnes, there will be some free time here to explore at leisure where you will find a plethora of shops, museums and cafes.

Wednesday: Today we visit the nearby pretty resort of Sidmouth, a seaside town like no other. The Connaught Gardens are one of the town’s highlights, along the flat seafront, along with many cafes where you can relax and enjoy the cream tea we have included.

Thursday: Today we make our way to Powderham Castle where we enjoy a fascinating guided tour of this home located on the banks of the River Exe, just a stone’s throw from the historic cathedral city of Exeter. The Castle was built by Sir Philip Courtenay in 1391 and has remained in the family ever since. Having withstood the ravages of the civil war in the 17th century, it was embellished in the 18th century with fine interiors.

Friday: We bid a fond farewell to the hotel staff as we head back this morning to Hugglescote, arriving back late afternoon.Langstone Cliff Hotel

The hotel is set in 19 acres of woodland on the beautiful south coast of Devon, nestled in the heart of Dawlish Warren. Overlooking the Exe Estuary, the hotel boasts luscious lawns and well pruned gardens with magnificent sea views over the golden sandy beaches. The beach is just a short walk from the hotel via a public footpath and the internationally famous nature reserve.

All bedrooms are en suite with tea/coffee making facilities, television, hair dryer and free WiFi. The hotel has rooms on the ground floor with walk-in showers. Not all bedrooms have lift access. There is also an outdoor pool (open seasonal), an indoor swimming pool, fitness room, tennis courts, golf practice driving range, snooker and beauty salon (some charges apply).
