Discover the many charms of the Isle of Wight on this delightful five-day break, staying in the popular seaside resort of Shanklin. Explore the island’s fascinating history with visits to Carisbrooke Castle and magnificent Osborne House, once the much-loved retreat of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Enjoy the scenery from a different perspective on a relaxing Solent and Portsmouth cruise, meet the residents of the popular Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary and visit the Isle of Wight Pearl. We complete our island experience with a nostalgic journey aboard the Isle of Wight Steam Railway – a wonderful way to discover the heritage and character of this beautiful island.Monday: Following a morning departure we travel to Portsmouth where we board the ferry for the short crossing across the Solent to Fishbourne on the Isle of Wight. On arrival we rejoin our coach and travel the short distance to Shanklin. Here we spend four nights at the Bourne Hall Country House Hotel.

Tuesday: This morning we have arranged a visit to Carisbrooke Castle, dating back to Norman times. The Castle’s most famous prisoner was Charles 1st, who was imprisoned here after his civil war defeat. During the afternoon we visit the popular Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, with over 100 Donkeys, Mules and Shetland Ponies to see. This is one of the more popular attractions on the island.

Wednesday: Today we have included a two hour Solent and Portsmouth Circular Cruise. Later we travel to the South West of the island and visit the Isle of Wight Pearl showroom.

Thursday: This morning we travel to the North of the island and visit Osborne House which was the island retreat of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and following his death where she spent the rest of her life. Later we travel to Havenstreet where we can enjoy a return journey on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

Friday: This morning we leave our hotel and travel to Fishbourne and board the ferry for the return crossing to Portsmouth. From here we continue towards home, making the usual refreshment stops, we arrive during the afternoon.
