Description
Visiting the Isle of Wight is like being abroad at home. Often referred to as 'the garden isle', the island is an England in miniature. Sandown is our holiday resort and a firm favourite on the island; it's clear to see why with its miles of soft golden sands crowned by Sandown's pleasure pier, complimented by a lively, palm tree lined esplanade, decked with traditional seaside cafes and souvenir shops. All this topped off with a bustling high street full of arty and tourist shops and many eateries.
Itinerary
Arrival Day: After joining the coach via one of our departure points or our executive Door2Door service, you will be introduced to your professional driver and whisked away in comfort journeying south and across the Solent to the beautiful Isle of Wight. We aim to arrive between 3-4pm so you can relax before your evening meal and settle down for your first night.
Full Day Excursion: After breakfast we head inland to Newport, the principle town of the Isle of Wight. A lively town steeped in beauty and history, there is so much to provide you with a lovely day out. The town boasts two elegant squares with contrasting Georgian and Victorian architecture in abundance, and a fine mix of high street and independent stores. Today sees the regular market gracing much of the town centre. If you are interested in history and heritage there is plenty on offer with Carisbrooke Castle, Newport Roman Villa and more.
Free Day in Resort: Free time to enjoy the facilities that the Channel View Hotel has to offer.
Full Day Excursion: Today we head out for a breathtaking coastal drive enjoying miles and miles of beautiful sea views from the east to west coast. Our first stop is Shanklin, a pretty seaside resort popular for its busy high street, golden sands, its old town with beautiful array of thatched buildings and famous chine, a dramatic fissure in the rocks where a 45ft waterfall cascades. From here we continue to Ventnor, a Victorian seaside town nestled below the enchanting St Boniface Down, the highest point on the Isle of Wight. Enjoy a stroll around the pretty harbour, suberb cascade gardens and bandstand. Continuing along the coast we come to Alum Bay home of the famous 21 coloured sands.
Departure Day: Make the most of the wonderful food that is on offer for breakfast this morning. After a fabulous holiday, it's time to bid farewell to your hosts and Sandown for your journey home, taking wonderful memories with you.
