Day 1 - After joining your holiday coach, head to the south coast for your 3, 4 or 6 night stay in Bournemouth. Arrive at Swanage pier to spend some time in this lovely coastal town, transformed during the Victorian era into a seaside favourite and now a well-established atmospheric resort with a long beach, interesting shops, fresh clean air and rich heritage. Your driver will transfer you back to Bournemouth later in the afternoon\n\nBoat trip may not operate in case of adverse weather conditions\n\nCompton Acres Gardens - Half day (all tours)\nConstructed in 1920 by Mr Thomas Simpson, Compton Acres gardens are widely acknowledged as one of the finest privately owned gardens in England with over 10 acres of horticultural heaven. The garden has 5 main themed gardens joined by a series of links, including a sub-tropical area and southern Hemisphere collection adding more variety to the planting styles in the garden. The Japanese Garden encompasses original designer Thomas Simpson's love for the unique elegance and incomparable beauty of Japanese horticulture. The Grand Italian Garden design has strength and grandeur brought alive by the sound and movement of water. You will also find the Compton Acres Gift Shop, Café and Tearooms, Plant Centre and gift store. Return to Bournemouth for an afternoon at leisure\n\nChristchurch & Highcliffe Castle (7 day tour only)\nThe Saxon town of Christchurch is an historic place set between two picturesque rivers with a stunning natural harbour. Its cobbled streets lead to the historic ruins of the town's castle overlooking the river while beautiful parks and glades open onto the water at the quayside. This pretty bijou town boasts a thriving high street and a mix of independent boutiques and shops, cafes and eateries. There is a blue plaque trail from the Quay to the High Street to help visitors find out more about key historical landmarks and local prominent figures.\n\nOnto nearby Highcliffe Castle. The magnificent building, once lavishly furnished in the 18th century French style, remained a family home until the 1950s. Harry Gordon Selfridge, the owner of the London department store rented Highcliffe Castle from 1916 to 1922 and the grounds were used during the WW1 for Mrs Gordon Selfridge Convalescent Camp for American Soldiers. Admire the skilfully reinvented interior, overcoming fires and ruin to be restored in a massive repair and conservation programme. There will be time to explore the house and grounds (don't miss the wonderful views across Christchurch Bay to the Isle of Wight) plus an informative talk about the history of the castle together with a cup of tea / coffee and locally made shortbread served in the State Dining Room.\n\nReturn Day - After breakfast and check out and head back to interchange and onward to your hometowns.
