DAY 1 - After joining your holiday coach, you travel north, stopping for the opportunity of lunch or refreshments. Continue to your centrally located hotel in York late afternoon to check in for 3 nights DBB\n\nDAY 2 - 3 - At leisure in York with one included excursion plus a full free day in York\n\nA day at leisure in Medieval York \nMagnificent York is a beautiful compact riverside city famous for its Roman, Viking and Medieval heritage dating back 2000 years. Within the ancient walls and twisting atmospheric streets you will find an array of sights to discover such as the iconic York Minster, Jorvik Viking Centre and a host of museums, shops, charming tea rooms and traditional pubs. Be sure to visit the Shambles, one of York's most famous landmarks and one of the best-preserved medieval shopping streets in Europe, with its cobbled streets and overhanging buildings. Your driver may be able to offer an optional guided city tour.\n\nINCLUDED EXCURSIONS\nRiver Ouse Fish & Chip Lunch Cruise & York Mansion House (all tours)\nEnjoy a relaxed start to the day in York. The coach will take any railway enthusiasts to the National Railway Museum this morning where you can immerse yourself in the home of iconic locomotives and an unrivalled collection of engineering brilliance. There is plenty to see - from the Mallard, a masterpiece of design and the world's fastest steam locomotive at a record 126mph to an innovative Japanese bullet train (the only one outside Japan). Entrance to the museum is FOC but the interactive gallery - Wonderlab - is chargeable (approx. £9.90 pp in 2025). Re-group, to take in the beautiful riverside of the majestic Minster City and the surrounding countryside on a York Fish & Chips Cruise. As you board your boat, you'll be handed your Fish & Chips freshly wrapped and delivered by an award-winning local chippy. There is an on-board bar. After disembarking, stroll over to St Helen's Square and York Mansion House for a guided visit. Past the grandeur of the prominent green doors and beautiful facade lies a home built for entertaining royalty, with a rich civic and personal history. As the oldest purpose built home for a Lord Mayor in the country, the stories of scandal and frivolity woven into the fabric of the building are still being told. Staterooms, a regalia-flanked Dining Room, a stunning silver gallery, recreated 18th century kitchen and a cabinet of curiosities are waiting to be discovered. There are four floors accessible by lift and 6 steps at the main entrance\n\nDAY 4 - Setting off this morning for the journey south with an interesting stop at lunch time.
