Day 1 - After joining your holiday coach, the motorway network takes you northbound with suitable stops for lunch and refreshments. Arriving at 4* Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh West this evening for your 4-night stay with porterage on arrival and buffet dinner each night. DBB\n\nDay 2 - 4 At leisure with two included excursions and a full free day in Edinburgh (with return transfers)\n\nEdinburgh is an unbeatable city, steeped in history and culture. Edinburgh Castle, the 12th-century fortress perched atop an extinct volcano, dominates the skyline and is Scotland's most popular attraction (entrance not included - approx. £21.50 p in 2025 - advance purchase recommended). Take a stroll along the iconic Royal Mile with its cobbled streets, higgledy-piggledy houses, dark wynds, secret closes and colourful street performers. Pop into St Giles' Cathedral with its stunning architecture, rich history, intricate wooden interior and impressive gold-leaf ceiling. Edinburgh is also home to an amazing array of free things to do which include galleries, museums, parks and visitor attractions. The Royal Botanic Garden, just a mile from the city centre, offers 72 acres of impeccably pruned gardens (entrance FOC). The Scottish National Gallery houses Scotland's national collection of fine art with eye-catching masterpieces by the greats such as Van Gogh, Rembrandt and Botticelli (entrance FOC). Take a trip down Memory Lane at The Museum of Childhood, a treasure trove of retro toys, books, games and nostalgia from the mid-19th century to the present day. Princes Street is considered Edinburgh's main shopping street, where you'll find all the popular high street shops along with bustling cafes. Shops are all kept to the north side of the street, leaving the south side open to pleasant views towards the Old Town across Princes Street Gardens.\n\nReturn transfers into the city centre and you may like to join the optional guided city tour today (details from your driver).\n\nINCLUDED EXCURSIONS\nHOPETOUN HOUSE & FORTH CREAM TEA CRUISE\nHopetoun House is one of Scotland's finest stately homes set in beautiful grounds beside the Firth of Forth. Home of the Marquess of Linlithgow, Hopetoun is a place of beauty, tranquility and architectural magnificence dating from the 17th century and filled with stunning collections and scenic walks. The magnificent interiors which have remained virtually unchanged for three centuries reflect the elegance of the Georgian era and are decorated with the best period furniture, paintings, tapestries and clocks, with beautifully crafted finishes of carving, gilding and plaster work. Fans of Outlander will recognise Hopetoun as an iconic film location of the show (Series 1 - 4). A private guided tour of the house is included. Much of the house and grounds have good accessibility\n\nHead into pretty South Queensferry which sits in the shadow of the Forth Bridges. Time for a stroll and a lunch snack before boarding your 90-minute Three Bridges Cream Tea Cruise along the Firth of Forth. Take in unrivalled views of all three bridges, a UNESCO World Heritage site, from the water. Enjoy the beautiful panoramas of the Edinburgh skyline to the south and the Kingdom of Fife to the north. Look out for the marine wildlife and you may be lucky to see seals, porpoises and puffins. A delicious cream tea will be served in the saloon on board and there are toilet facilities as well as a bar (additional cost).\n\nPALACE OF HOLYROODHOUSE\nThe Palace of Holyroodhouse stands at the end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile and is the home of Scottish royal history and the official residence in Scotland of His Majesty The King. Explore the Palace's close associations with some of Scotland's most well-known historic figures such as Mary, Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie, and learn how today it is used by The King when carrying out official engagements in Scotland. Visit the magnificent historic and State Apartments, the beautiful ruins of the 12th-century Holyrood Abbey and remarkable royal gardens, with a complimentary multimedia tour. Best known as the home of Mary, Queen of Scots, the Palace was the setting for many dramatic episodes in her short reign. Today, the State Apartments are used regularly for State ceremonies and official entertaining. The remainder of the day is at leisure for your own sightseeing and visits.\n\nDay 5 - After breakfast, return homewards, arriving back at your local joining points this mid-evening

There are several public transport options from the hotel to the city centre - please ask at reception. \n\nThe Avenue is the hotel's onsite restaurant and bar with a great outdoor terrace for warmer weather. \n\nSmart, bright guestrooms are spacious with WiFi, ironing facilities, hairdryer and tea / coffee making facilities.
