York offers superb shopping and a magical atmosphere with the essence of hot mulled wine and roasting chestnuts helping to create a festive feel! York has a pedestrianised centre full of quirky boutiques, shops and markets with wonderful unique gifts. Stay in a centrally located hotel to easily step out and enjoy all that festive York has to offer. Day 1 - After joining your holiday coach heading north via the motorway to arrive at your hotel late afternoon. Check into the excellent 2* Queen's Hotel, centrally located in York, for the next 3 nights. DBB\n\nDay 2 - 3 - At leisure in York with one included excursion and a visit to Harrogate\n\nINCLUDED EXCURSIONS\nHarewood House\nHarewood House is transformed with beautiful decorations and exquisite light spectacles, differently themed each year. Every single room is absolutely stunning and picture perfect, meticulously decorated for the season and the festooned walks through the grounds are simply magical. Whatever the theme of the year, you'll get a distinct feel of Christmas from times gone by but with modern technology providing an immersive experience. There are plenty of opportunities for a bit of Christmas shopping in the Courtyard gift shop, where much of the offering has been crafted and produced especially for Harewood House by artisans and designers.\n\nReturn to York this afternoon to soak up the Christmas atmosphere at your leisure. Christmas market stalls, carol singers and buskers, festive shoppers and the soaring pinnacles of York Minster, make the city a wonderful place to enjoy the pre-Christmas build-up Credit: Visit York\n\nA Day in Harrogate (or York)\nYou may like to spend a full free day in enchanting York or jump on the coach to Harrogate to enjoy some free time in the heart of Yorkshire. Elegant Harrogate is a stylish and historic 18th century spa town frequented by well-to-do Victorians after the discovery of its medicinal waters. It has left a legacy of grandeur which can be seen everywhere amid its opulent buildings, green open spaces and beautiful parks and gardens. There ae plenty of independent and well-known shops but if you are all done with Christmas shopping, you may like to visit the grade II listed Royal Pump Room Museum (admission applies - approx. £4.20 pp in 2025), which explores Harrogate's spa history and houses the strongest sulphur well in Europe! Then head to the famous Bettys Café Tea Rooms for a well deserved cuppa.\n\nDay 4 - Your homeward journey begins this morning pausing for refreshments en route. Onwards to interchange and your home towns mid evening.
