A Crusader Favourite Holiday
Day 1 - After boarding your holiday coach, head down to St Agnes for a 3, 4, 5 or 6 night stay with suitable stops en-route. DBB with some entertainment\n\nDay 2 - 3 (4, 5 or 6) - At leisure in St Agnes with two or three included excursions and leisure time in St Agnes\n\nINCLUDED EXCURSIONS\nSt Ives (all tours)\nSt Ives is a dazzling jewel in Cornwall's crown - a picturesque fishing harbour and seaside town, a haven for artists, holidaymakers and anyone who appreciates just how breathtaking England's coast can be. Boasting gorgeous sandy beaches, delightful fishermen's cottages, cobbled streets and an array of wonderfully enticing boutique and independent shops, visitors are sure to enjoy exploring this pretty Cornish port. Once a busy pilchard harbour, St Ives later became the centre of Cornwall's arts scene in the 1920s and '30s, when luminary figures such as Barbara Hepworth arrived in search of artistic freedom. St Ives still retains its artistic connections with numerous galleries including the renowned Tate St Ives (entrance from approx. £14 pp in 2025).\n\nPort Isaac & Padstow (all tours)\nHead to the pretty fishing village of Port Isaac, known in the popular TV drama, Doc Martin, as the community of Portwenn. Keen fans may want to head to Fern Cottage to get a shot of 'Doctor Ellingham's surgery'. Port Isaac has one of the narrowest alleyways in the UK, some say the world! Known both as Temple Bar and Squeezy Belly Alley, at its narrowest point it is only 18 inches wide. It runs from the Platt on the harbour up into the village. NB there is quite a steep walk into the village. Continue to the picturesque seaside town of Padstow, nestled on the beautiful Camel Estuary. Made famous by Rick Stein over the last years, there's more to Padstow than just great places to eat. It's still a working harbour surrounded by pastel washed medieval houses and it is located on one of the most beautiful stretches of coast in Britain.\n\nLost Gardens of Heligan & Megavissey (June & September only)\nExperience one of the most unique and fascinating attractions in Cornwall, The Lost Gardens of Heligan - a genuine secret garden which was lost for decades and rediscovered from the brambles of time back in 1990. Today it is the largest garden restoration in Europe, home to a National Collection of camellias and rhododendrons and an incredible 200 acres of gardens and estate to explore, bursting with romance and intrigue around every pathway and corner. You will be welcomed by a member of staff who will give you a brief introduction to the history of the gardens along with the magnificent success story of its restoration. The Jungle is spectacular at any time of year and the intricate collection of gardens, each have their own unique plantings and atmosphere. You are sure to discover a paradise for the explorer, plant lover, history buff or garden romantic - The Lost Gardens have it all! There are several food & drink outlets. NB The Lost Gardens of Heligan are spread over a 200 acres estate and approx. 13 acres can be accessed via even paths. There is a gentle downhill gradient. Accessible maps are available from reception\n\nFinish the day with a stop in lovely Megavissey where narrow streets lead down to the old centre and the distinctive twin harbour provide a safe haven for local boats. Once the centre of Cornwall's pilchard fishing, many of the old buildings, constructed of cob and slate, bear testimony to a time when the large shoals of pilchards were the livelihood of the whole village.\n\nIsles of Scilly for the Day (August only)\nAfter an early breakfast, head to Penzance to board the morning ferry for the crossing (2h45m) to the largest island, St Mary's, for a unique perspective of some of Cornwall's most iconic coastline. There are comfy, reclining seats as well as an on-board café. Only 28 miles west off the mainland, the Isles of Scilly feel like a different world - azure seas, white sand beaches, sub-tropical gardens and one of the warmest climates in the UK. Encompassing an area of less than 2.5 square miles St Mary's has an intimate atmosphere that exudes small island life. For those feeling especially spritely a walk around the island might be in order. Explore Hugh Town or take a local bus (fare not included) to enjoy the wonderful sights of the island. Return to the mainland in the afternoon with a later dinner this evening\n\nReturn Day - It's farewell to Cornwall as you head for home today. Travel back to interchange with suitable refreshment stops en-route to arrive back at your home towns early evening.
