England’s largest National Park contains many of the most picturesque lakes in England making the landscape which inspired such famous poets as Wordsworth and Coleridge. This holiday is an opportunity to see that magnificent landscape from the best possible angle - from the water - with trips on the two largest lakes included in the price.
Itinerary
Full Day Excursion to Ullswater and Keswick
We travel to Pooley Bridge to join the Ullswater ‘Steamer’ boat trip to Glenridding (boat fare included in holiday cost), at the foot of the mighty Helvellyn. We then continue to Keswick, the busiest town in the North Lakes, situated beside Derwent Water.
Full Day Excursion to Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere
Today we take a boat trip on England’s largest lake, Windermere (included in tour cost). We then continue to Ambleside at the head of Lake Windermere, a major tourist resort with shops, hotels and restaurants, before continuing to Grasmere for a look around Wordsworth’s village.

Ideally located on the broad sweep of Morecambe's east promenade, the Headway is renowned for its friendly service and entertainment. Situated on Morecambe’s quieter East Promenade, an ideal base for exploring both the Lakes and Dales. The resident’s dining room offers traditional food and Finnegan’s Restaurant and Bar, open to the public, provides lunchtime snacks with a lively atmosphere. There is a quiet first floor lounge and a ballroom for entertainment, provided most evenings.
