Description
The south-western coast of Wales is one of the least explored, but most unspoilt, parts of Britain. Known as ‘Little England beyond Wales’, it hosts some of the finest beaches and lovely rolling countryside imaginable. Further round the coast, the Gower Peninsula captivates all who visit it, and was the first place in Britain to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Itinerary
Tour Highlights:
Gower Peninsula • The Mumbles • St Davids • Tenby • Porthcawl • Pembroke Coast
Full Day
Today we explore the beautiful Gower Peninsula. The Mumbles is located on a five mile stretch of Swansea Bay, and retains its Victorian seaside charm with its piers and long promenade. Passing the ruins of Oystermouth Castle we follow the Gower Heritage Coast to Port Eynon Point with its sandy beaches and interesting cliff lines.
Full Day
A long but rewarding day, today, as we discover the dramatic coastlines of Pembrokeshire. This morning we head to St David’s, the smallest "city" in Britain, afforded the title by Queen Elizabeth because of the presence of the cathedral. This afternoon visit the small harbour town of Tenby, a thriving resort within the boundaries of the Pembroke National Park, before returning by Pendine Sands, where land speed records are attempted.
Half Day
A relaxing half day excursion to the seaside resort of Porthcawl, formerly a coal port overlooking three scenic bays.
