Description
On the tip of the Kent coastline, Margate and neighbouring Cliftonville have long been Kent’s foremost seaside resorts. Although a little faded in some respects, this is still a wonderful holiday base, with sweeping sandy beaches, a long promenade and a host of traditional seaside attractions. And it’s perfectly placed to explore the many treasures of Kent, including historic seaside towns, magnificent Canterbury, and rolling 'Garden of England' countryside with its hop gardens, orchards and pretty weather boarded villages.
Itinerary
Full Day
Today we head along the North Kent coastline to the twin resorts of Whitstable and Herne Bay. These sleepy resorts benefit from their sheltered position at the head of the Swale and offer wonderful seaside walks. In the afternoon we make our way to Canterbury - the cradle of Christianity - where the medieval texture of the city remains amongst the streets and precincts of the famous cathedral.
Full Day
Heading along the southern coastlines of Kent we make our way to the thriving town of Folkestone, enjoying an elevated position overlooking the English Channel. This afternoon we continue along the coast to Sandgate, renowned for its antique shops, and on to the town of Hythe.
