Description

Treat yourself to a wonderfully indulgent few days at the luxurious Palace Hotel in Buxton, and take in some of England’s finest unspoilt scenery at the same time. The Barcelo Buxton Palace Hotel is situated in the heart of this historic spa town and is a famous landmark building in every respect, whilst the surrounding Peak District landscape is beyond compare. To complete this stunning short break picture we’ve included a visit to magnificent Chatsworth House and gardens too.

This morning we head deep into the Peak District and visit stately Chatsworth House. Known as the ‘Palace of the Peaks’ the interior rooms are treasure troves of priceless furniture and magnificent paintings (admission included). The landscaped gardens feature sculptures, mazes and waterworks including the famous Cascade, falling 200 yards down the hillside. In the afternoon we visit Bakewell, a popular tourist centre famous for its puddings which are sold in the local bakeries. Full Day
Today we discover the High Peaks with a memorable journey over the Snake Pass and to the shores of Ladybower Reservoir - famed as the practice area for the Dambuster crews. We continue to the favourite tourist centre of Castleton, surrounded by 'showcaves', where the famous Blue John Stone is mined.
