Itinerary
Day 1 Departure
A morning departure to Dover and our ferry crossing to Calais. We then continue through France to our overnight hotel.
Day 2 Travel to La Rochelle via Blois
Optional Excursion
Morning Tour of Chartres Cathedral After breakfast, you have the opportunity to take an optional tour of the magnificent Gothic Cathedral in Chartres. We then drive through the Loire Valley region of France with a stop at the historical town of Blois. We then continue to La Rochelle and our resort hotel.
Days 3-5 At leisure
At leisure in La Rochelle with two included excursions. With an exceptional 2400 hours of sunshine per year, as much as the French Riviera, La Rochelle is an ideal holiday resort. Beaches, greenery, fortifications, chalk cliffs… its beauty and diversity create an ideal setting to profit from life’s pleasures. With more than three million visitors each year, La Rochelle is the third most visited city in France.
Included Excursion
Full Day Cognac (with optional tours of Hennessey) A full day included excursion to the famous town of Cognac, where brandy has been produced since the 17th Century. Here the picturesque old quarter is full of history and surrounding the town are some 200,000 acres of vines. You will have the opportunity to take an optional tour of the ‘Hennessey’ distillery. Later in the day you may also take an optional tour of the Ile de Ré, set across the toll bridge from La Rochelle.
Included Excursion
Full Day Rochefort & Royan A full day included excursion exploring the Atlantic Coastline. We visit the historical old port of Rochefort with its richly ornamented houses and nautical history. We continue to Royan set on the Gironde estuary.
Day 6 Travel to overnight hotel
We make our way northwards passing back into a gentler countryside as we retrace our steps bound for our last overnight stop in the Paris area. Your Tour Manager / Driver may offer an optional farewell dinner and tour in Paris. (Please Note: there may be circumstances when the overnight hotel will not be in Paris, in which case the tour cannot be offered).
Last Day Travel home
We depart for Calais and our ferry crossing to Dover, arriving home during the evening.

Mercure La Rochelle
We stay for 4 nights at the Mercure Hotel La Rochelle, situated on the outer dock of the Vieux Port (old port) between the historic town centre of La Rochelle and the new port area. Facilities at the hotel include a restaurant and bar. All bedrooms are en suite and have TV and hairdryer.
