Yorkshire is known for its glorious stately homes, magnificent gardens and beautiful scenery and that is exactly what you will see on this lovely tour, staying in the spa town of Harrogate. Known for popular authors, such as James Herriot, this region is always an inspiring and admired destination.
Itinerary
Monday: We depart the Travel Centre this morning and make our way north as we head for Harrogate, arriving in the afternoon.

Tuesday: This morning is free to explore the delights of Harrogate. Why not visit the famous Betty’s Tea Rooms. Afterwards, enjoy the RHS Garden Harlow Carr, specially designed to reflect the Yorkshire landscape, dominated by stone, water and woodland.

Wednesday: Today we travel to the market town of Thirsk and step inside ‘The World of James Herriot’. See where this famous vet lived, worked and wrote his incredibly successfully series of books including ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. Take time to meander along the streets and cobbled market square before a scenic drive towards Ripon with its magnificent cathedral, where we make a stop before continuing through Nidderdale, An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and Grassington before returning to the hotel.

Thursday: This morning we visit the magnificent Harewood House, set in 100 acres of gardens with plants from all over the world in a landscape created by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. Take time to explore upstairs and downstairs; learn about the Lascelles family and life below stairs before venturing into the splendid grounds.

Friday: We leave Harrogate behind this morning and make our way back to Leicestershire, with a stop en route, arriving back in the afternoon.
