Join us as we head to Nottingham for our Wonderful Mix in the Shires Tour taking in four counties, from Nottinghamshire our base, delightful Derbyshire, stunning Staffordshire and lovely Leicestershire. Excursions are as varied as the title suggests. Travel to delightful Derbyshire for a nostalgic rail journey on the Peak Railway why not sample the famous pudding in the picturesque town of Bakewell in the magnificent Peak District. Explore culinary delights on our visit to Melton Mowbray in lovely Leicestershire with a visit to the unique Bell Foundry Museum of John Taylor. Staffordshire is the proud home of the beautiful, thought-provoking National Memorial Arboretum, discover this perfect place of quiet contemplation to honor those that served and still serve our nation in many different ways. Not to forget Nottinghamshire our host, visit Nottingham the capital of the shire, famous for the legend Robin Hood with a visit to the Castle Museum and Galleries which overlook the city, ‘The Jewel in Nottingham’s Crown’, perhaps take a trip to Jerusalem, said to be England’s oldest pub, carved into the craggy rock face below the castle. Monday
Depart Leyland at 10.00am for our journey to Nottingham in the wonderful county of Nottinghamshire, travelling via the picturesque Peak District with a suitable lunch stop en-route
Tuesday - Thursday
Full day to visit the historic city of Nottingham with entrance to the Castle Museum and Galleries included.
Full Day - Take a nostalgic return journey on Peak Rail from Rowsley South in Derbyshire followed by a visit to Bakewell, home of the famous pudding.
Today we visit the Bell Foundry Museum in Loughborough, Leicestershire with a visit to Melton Mowbray, returning to the hotel mid-afternoon to relax with the opportunity to use the leisure facilities at the hotel.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast, visit the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire allowing plenty of time to explore with time for lunch before continuing our journey home
