Join us as we head off on a magical adventure north to Scotland for our Romantic Journeys of Scotland Tour. Including two spectacular Scotrail journeys that take you through breathtaking Highland scenery. Our tour is a journey into Highland wildlife with a visit to the Highland Wildlife Park set in the stunning Cairngorns National Park surrounded by beautiful views. Take a majestic cruise on the beautiful, deep mystical waters Loch Ness, filled with tales and legend, oh and don’t forget to look out for Nessie. Don’t miss out on this wonderful journey of Highland wildlife and breathtaking views , enjoy the magnificent mountain, forest and loch scenery as you sit back, relax and make memories.
Itinerary
Sunday
Depart Leyland at 08.00hrs for our journey north to Scotland with a suitable lunch stop en-route to the Highlander Hotel in Newtonmore.
Monday - Thursday
Following breakfast we head to Aviemore where we will stop with time to explore, enjoy the scenery allowing time for lunch. In the afternoon we visit the Highland Wildlife Park, home to Scottish Wildcats and other interesting animals, including its own safari drive.
Following breakfast we travel to the Highland capital, Inverness. Here we join the Scotrail train for one of the Great Rail Journey's of the World - the line to the Kyle of Lochalsh. The route takes us through some of the best scenery in the country, skirting lochs and passing remote villages. After a break in Kyle of Lochalsh re-join the coach to enjoy the return ride, this time by road.
Following breakfast today out excursion takes us south west along the shores of Loch Laggan, through Glen Spean to Fort William. Here we take another magical train journey on the celebrated West Highland Line to Mallaig. This spectacular line passes hidden lochs and inlets, silver sands, and crosses the magnificent Glenfinnan Viaduct on its way west. Malliag is a major fishing port, and we will have time to wander the harbour and explore before we catch the train for the return journey to Fort William, where we re-join the coach for our journey back to Newtonmore with a photo stop at the unmissable Scottish Iconic landmark Glenfinnan Viaduct from the road.
Following breakfast Loch Ness is our destination today. Travel through unspoilt scenery past Loch Mohr and along Stratherrick to Fort Augustus. Whist here we have time to obtain lunch and take a wonderful cruise, with commentary on Loch Ness aboard 'The Royal Scot' from the Caledonian Canal. Following our cruise leave Fort Augustus and head north overlooking the loch toward Inverness before heading back to Newtonmore.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast to bid farewell to the Highlands as we make our journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
