Day 1 –After joining your holiday coach, relax and enjoy the scenery and after a stop mid- day in ‘the City of Dreaming Spires – Oxford – your route takes you through some very pretty Cotswold countryside to your base in Hereford and the best known hotel in the town the Green Dragon. 4 nights here with breakfast & dinner.
Day 2 –Free time to familiarize yourselves with your new surroundings before you join the group to Hay on Wye, a pretty little town on the banks of the River Wye, just inside the Welsh border.
With Hay established as the world's secondhand-book capital, a festival of literature and culture was founded in 1988, growing in stature each year to take in all aspects of the creative arts. Today the Hay Festival is a major attraction in its own right.
The small town centre is made up of narrow sloping lanes, peppered by interesting shops and peopled by the differing types that such individuality and so many books tend to attract.
The route back to the hotel takes you via Pembridge where a stop will be made at a timeless ancient inn overlooking the small black & white town’s church, unpretentious 3- room bar with antique settles, beams, worn flagstones, an impressive inglenook log fire and 2 ghosts!
Day 3 – Pretty Upton Upon Severn is on your itinerary today time for a stroll before travelling onto Tewkesbury. An ancient Abbey and Wednesday is Market Day.
Enjoy Ledbury this afternoon with its lovely Market Hall and cobbled Church Street.
Day 4 – The Hop Pocket Shopping Village is well worth a visit this morning – a welcome talk and tastings of local wines, ciders and soft drinks is included and a look round before continuing onto Worcester to arrive at lunch time.
The home of the famous Worcestershire sauce (an unlikely combination of fermented tamarinds and anchovies), this ancient cathedral city was the site of the last battle of the Civil War, the Battle of Worcester, which took place on 3 September 1651.
Join one of the Worcester River Cruise boats - The Pride of the Midlands, with a 45 minute commentary from the South Quay. Fully stocked bar & refreshments available.
Day 5 – Breakfast and commence your homeward journey with a pleasant stop in Stow on the Wold before reaching interchange.
