Itinerary
DAY 1 Departure: A morning departure, stopping for lunch and refreshments en route to our hotel.
DAYS 2-4 At leisure with three included excursions. On one evening you will also be offered an optional* evening excursion, details will be provided by your driver.
Grassington, Skipton & Pennine boat cruise: After a leisurely breakfast we journey to the Yorkshire Dales and its most popular main village, Grassington with its cobbled Market Square home to several inns, shops and to the Upper Wharfdale Museum (entrance not included). Late morning we travel to Skipton, dubbed “The gateway to the Dales” and winner of the prestigious 2009 Great High Street of the year award. This wonderful historic market town is situated in the heart of the beautiful Pennines with its superbly preserved 900 year old medieval Castle. From here we join our Pennine boat cruise travelling on board a beautiful traditional canal boat. During the hour long trip the skipper unravels the captivating 200 year old tale of the canal while passing through the varied scenery, mill buildings and the many swing bridges. Upon arrival back in Skipton you can enjoy free time to explore the market stalls and wander at your leisure before we return you to the hotel.
Haworth, Keighley, Worth Valley Railway: This morning we visit Haworth, home of the Brontë sisters, where you will have free time for shopping and sightseeing. This afternoon we journey on the railway from Keighley to Oxenhope. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is an authentic steam railway which runs through the heart of West Yorkshire's Brontë Country. Lovingly preserved, the line was used in the film version of E. Nesbit’s “The Railway Children” and countless other TV and cinema period dramas. Upon arrival in Oxenhope why not visit the museum?
Pendle Hill, Forest of Bowland & Oswaldtwistle Mills: We travel over the dramatic scenery on the Lancashire side of the Pennines to Pendle Hill and the forest of Bowland where you will have time for sightseeing. This afternoon we continue to Oswaldtwistle Mills for shopping.
LAST DAY Travel home: We depart for home, arriving during the evening.
