Itinerary
DAY 1 Departure & Cambridge: We depart this morning and head for the world famous university city of Cambridge, noted for its historic colleges, the first of which was founded in 1284. You have time to explore medieval churches, parks, bookshops and specialist museums, or even to take a punt along the river Cam, a great way to take in the city (not included). Later we depart for our hotel.
DAY 2 Glenn Miller Festival: This morning we head for the Glenn Miller Festival. In 1944 Glenn Miller himself performed with his Orchestra at Twinwood Airfield, and later on that year the great bandleader took his last fateful flight from here. The last place he set foot was the Twinwood Control Tower, where the Glenn Miller Museum is now housed. Celebrate his memory at this magical festival with non stop live music from well known bands playing music from the 40s, 50s and beyond. Add to this, air displays, hangar dances, trade stalls, museums, living history, classic vehicles and with so much more to experience you will be astounded. From this weekend on you will be guaranteed a lifetime of memories whenever you hear the old familiar favourites.
LAST DAY Travel Home via Bletchley Park: After a leisurely breakfast we depart for home, stopping en route at Bletchley Park. Here you will be able to see their Enigma Machines, including the rare 'Abwehr G312', but there is much more than machines in a visit to the historic site. Check out the tales of spies and strategic deception. You may even be the one to discover the map to genius mathematician Alan Turing's silver, supposedly buried in or near Bletchley Park.
