Venture into the fifth largest country in the world, bigger than the continental United States of America, and witness the beautiful diversity of this country on our trail of discovery from Rio to rainforest before a conclusion on the sun drenched beaches of Salvador. Experience the hustle and bustle of Rio de Janeiro, where the sheer passion for life of the local people, known as cariocas, is always in evidence. Following an exciting visit to the mighty waterfalls at Iguaçu you are invited to envelop yourself in the natural beauty of Brazil during a fascinating three-night stay in an Amazon lodge, located in the middle of the rainforest, and learn the customs of local tribes-people and experience a wealth of unique flora and fauna. Your holiday concludes on the beach at Salvador, in such contrast to your stay in the Amazon. Not only will you have the services of a Titan HiTours tour manager throughout your holiday but local guides are also on hand to impart their intimate knowledge of the area.
Itinerary
DAY 1 LONDON • IN FLIGHT
We begin with Titan HiTours VIP Home Departure Service™ to London Heathrow and your direct scheduled TAM Airlines flight to Sao Paulo.
DAY 2 RIO DE JANEIRO
This morning we arrive into Sao Paulo where we connect with our onward flight to Rio de Janeiro. On arrival we transfer to the Hotel Porto Bay Rio Internacional or Hotel Excelsior for time to relax. Later we take a half-day tour of this marvellous and expansive city that has spread up the sides of granite peaks and down to the famous sandy beaches and where 17th century churches rub shoulders with modern skyscrapers. The highlight of our tour is a journey to the top of the Corcovado Mountain where you stand 700 metres above the ocean with the iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer for a fantastic view of this vibrant samba city.
DAY 3 RIO DE JANEIRO
A full free day to enjoy the delights of Rio. Explore the city's cultural sights, stroll along Copacabana beach or take an optional trip to the top of Sugerloaf Mountain by way of a spectacular cable car. This evening there is the opportunity for an optional Rio by night excursion, which includes dinner at a traditional churrascari restaurant followed by a folklore and carnival show where you will view the skilled dancers in their dazzling costumes.
DAY 4 RIO DE JANEIRO • IGUAÇU FALLS
Taking some of the carioca spirit with us we leave Rio behind this morning and fly to Iguaçu. The falls, at the junction between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay at a bend in the Rio Iguaçu are truly enormous and are a combination of over 270 separate falls. The thundering sound of millions of gallons of water falling 250 feet needs to be experienced up close and on arrival we travel the short distance across the border into Argentina to do just that. Later we cross back into Brazil where you stay at the Hotel Bourbon or Recanto Park Hotel for two nights.
DAY 5 IGUAÇU FALLS
The most panoramic views of the falls are to be enjoyed on the Brazilian side and this morning we take a walking tour along the strategically placed walkways and footbridges for some excellent vistas. This afternoon you can make your own explorations or take an optional helicopter trip to view the spectacular falls from the air (dependant on weather conditions).
DAY 6 IGUAÇU FALLS • AMAZON RAINFOREST
This morning we fly via Sao Paulo to Manaus and continue by boat to the Amazon EcoPark Lodge where you stay for three nights on a full board basis. Due to the location of your lodge, facilities are relatively basic, but we feel this adds to the whole experience of staying in the Amazon rainforest.
DAYS 7 & 8 AMAZON RAINFOREST
Two full days to experience the awesome Amazon Rainforest with a full programme of excursions including a jungle walking tour, a reconnaissance tour by boat, a fishing trip and after dark alligator spotting. You will also meet the native Amazon people to learn about their way of life and experience the ‘meeting of the waters’ where the near black water of the Negro river and the yellowish water of the Solimoes river run side by side without blending together.
DAY 9 AMAZON RAINFOREST • SALVADOR
Following your unforgettable stay in the Amazon, we retrace our steps by boat back to Manaus and transfer to the airport for our flight to Salvador in the state of Bahia, and the Catussaba Hotel, which enjoys a beachfront location.
DAY 10 SALVADOR
Salvador and the state in which it is contained, Bahia, takes much of its cultural and historical influence from the legacy of the African slave trade, which brought over three million Africans to Brazil in the 16th century to work in vast sugar plantations. This morning we transfer to the UNESCO protected historical centre of the city of Salvador and view the fine examples of baroque style churches, colourful buildings and experience the Afro-Brazilian customs and traditions. This afternoon we return to our hotel for some free time.
DAY 11 SALVADOR
A full free day to stretch out and relax on the beach and take a dip in the clear sea, or hotel swimming pool. Alternatively you can take a full day optional trip to Cachoeira to view the wonderful colonial architecture and visit a tobacco factory.
DAY 12 SALVADOR • LONDON
