Itinerary
DAY 1 LONDON • WINDHOEK
We begin with Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service™ to London Heathrow Airport and our direct scheduled British Airways/Comair flight to Windhoek via Johannesburg.
DAY 2 WINDHOEK
Our adventure begins when we land at Windhoek airport from where we are transferred to the Safari Court hotel, situated on the outskirts of town. Lying in a fertile valley and surrounded by the spectacular mountain ranges of Eros and Auas, this city has a vibrant and cosmopolitan flavour, at the heart of which beats the rich tempo of Africa.
DAY 3 WINDHOEK • KALAHARI
As we wind our way south of the city through some of the most picturesque ranching land, you may have your first sightings of yellow-billed hornbills or troops of baboons foraging in the undergrowth before arriving at the town of Rehoboth. Heading inland we arrive in the heart of the fascinating Kalahari dune world and our lodge for the night, Kalahari Anib. Late afternoon we embark on our exciting afternoon nature drive. Dinner will be served in the lodge this evening.
DAY 4 KALAHARI • SOSSUSVLEI
For the 'early birds' an optional nature drive is possible before we make our way to the Namib desert, an area sometimes referred to as the ‘dune sea’ for its ever-moving and changing scenery. Sossusvlei Lodge, is our base for the next two nights, where we have dinner.
DAY 5 SOSSUSVLEI • SESRIEM • SOSSUSVLEI
This morning calls for an early departure by coach for the Sossusvlei excursion and after a short drive you will board 4x4 vehicles as we embark on an unforgettable experience of the dune region, some of which are claimed to be the world’s highest. After returning to our coach we continue to Sesriem Canyon, another fascinating geological feature. We return to the lodge for an afternoon to relax in this wonderful environment and where we dine tonight.
DAY 6 SOSSUSVLEI • SWAKOPMUND
This morning we progress to Namibia’s premier coastal resort, the colonial town of Swakopmund. The bizarre Moon Valley flanks the Swakop River, one of the longest yet impermanent water courses in the country. These vast gravel plains are home to the unique Welwitschia Mirabilis, a botanical curiosity, some of which are more than 500 years old. After checking into the Swakopmund hotel, where we spend two nights, you may select your dining venue for this evening.
DAY 7 SWAKOPMUND
There is a distinct nautical flavour to the town and this morning we transfer to Walvis Bay for our exciting marine cruise, where you can discover some of the wonderful birdlife and sea creatures whilst enjoying oysters and champagne. This afternoon take a leisurely amble around this delightful seaside town feasting your eyes on the fine colonial architecture, quaint shops and tempting coffee shops. After returning to our hotel why not relax over an evening drink before selecting where to dine.
DAY 8 SWAKOPMUND • TWYFELFONTEIN
We embark on our journey north along the often windswept and barren coast to Henties Bay and then north to Cape Cross for a visit to the seal colony before continuing along the Desert Highway to the heart of Damaraland. Our Lodge for the next two nights is Twyfelfontein, where we have dinner.
DAY 9 TWYFELFONTEIN
Today is a leisurely one and this morning you will find one of the largest collections of rock paintings and engravings in Africa. The formation and colour of the nearby Burnt Mountain is a phenomenon and has caused much speculation and the Organ Pipes, a mass of basalt slabs in a ravine gouged out by a river, is another geological curiosity in the area. You will also be able to visit some of the rock art sites, which can be seen around the lodge or for the more energetic there are other sites which can be visited. Dinner this evening will be at our lodge.
DAY 10 TWYFELFONTEIN • ETOSHA
This morning we visit the Petrified Forest where you will find the remains of tree trunks, estimated to be about 200 million years old, scattered over a small enclosed area. We continue towards the Etosha National Park where a late afternoon game drive will be made in our touring vehicle. The Park was proclaimed a National Park in 1907 and today covers an area of 22,720 sq kms. Our 5* Lodge this evening is Epacha, where we have dinner.
DAY 11 ETOSHA
After a leisurely start we board our touring vehicle as we make our way into the Etosha National Park for a full day's game viewing. Throughout the day you will visit various water holes, where you can watch the game in its natural environment. The park has large herds of wildlife, which are unique to Southern Africa, such as the black rhino, zebra, lion, giraffe and a variety of antelope species to name but a few. Later in the day we arrive at the 5* Mokuti Lodge, where no doubt the topic of conversation at dinner will be a recount of the day’s events.
DAY 12 ETOSHA
As another exciting day unfolds we have a further opportunity to explore Etosha, the 'Great White Place'. There is plenty of time for both the professional and amateur photographer as we wait in anticipation for the 'bold' and 'timid' to make an appearance. This is truly a magical experience. As our day draws to a close we return to our lodge for dinner.
DAY 13 ETOSHA • OTJIWARONGO • WINDHOEK
Leaving Etosha behind today we head for Otjiwarongo passing Lake Otjikoto, which together with the nearby Lake Guinas forms a part of a vast underground water system. Time will be spent at Tsumeb before continuing south to Okahandja. Here you will have the chance to see the ancient skills of the local craftsmen as they proficiently hand carve a hippo or giraffe, perhaps a sentimental gift to take home. We arrive early evening at the Safari Court hotel, Windhoek.
DAY 14 WINDHOEK • LONDON
We transfer to Windhoek airport for our scheduled British Airways/Comair flights to London, via Johannesburg
DAY 15 LONDON
