Description
Washington • Williamsburg • Jamestown • Charleston • Savannah • Atlanta • New Orleans • Houston • San Antonio • Dallas

Dinner on day 11

The USA contains many wonders, but there is no disputing that the South boasts some of the world’s most exotic locations. New Orleans, Georgia, the Carolinas and Texas - the names conjure powerful images, but the reality has a colour and vibrance that no film can match. Then there is lovely old-world Virginia, and Washington which, in the French-style generosity of its planning, the human scale of its Georgetown houses and the outlook of its people, is in tune with what is far and away the most comprehensive tour of these regions. Among the many included highlights are entrances to Colonial Williamsburg, the original Jamestown Settlement and glorious Magnolia Gardens on the outskirts of Charleston. In New Orleans we enjoy a Mississippi jazz and dinner cruise and we experience gracious living while staying in such splendid hotels as the Holiday Inn in Charleston’s Historic District and the Westin Hotel in Dallas. Style, as Sir Noel Coward memorably remarked, is what places like Charleston and the South stand for. Whether you start from Dallas or Washington, you will plunge straight away into regions of picturesque history. Go there - and discover a warmth of welcome and breadth of spectacle that will stay with you forever.
