Itinerary
DAY 1 Departure: A morning departure, stopping for lunch and refreshments at Newark-on-Trent en route to our weekend hotel.
DAYS 2-3 At leisure in Yorkshire with two included excursions.
York: Today we visit the beautiful medieval city of York. This fantastic compact city boasts over 2000 years of history and offers a great range of attractions from the splendid York Minster, the Jorvik Viking Centre, the National Railway Centre, over 30 museums, as well as great shopping. Meander through the twisting atmospheric streets, wander the city walls, visit one of the charming tearooms or traditional English pubs – there is one for every day of the year.
Harrogate: When visiting Harrogate you are sure to be amazed by the magnificent and well maintained architecture, none more so than the Grade II listed Royal Hall Theatre, designed by the famous English theatre designer, Frank Matcham, in 1903. Harrogate Town Centre is full of surprises with over twenty antiques dealers and many restaurants and cafes including the famous Betty’s Tea Shop. As you explore you will be surrounded by broad tree lined boulevards and wide open spaces, largest of which is the Stray covering 200 acres, which wraps around the southern (and older) parts of the town.
LAST DAY Travel home: We depart home, stopping en route for lunch in Stamford, arriving home during the evening.
