Come and discover the delights of both the Italian and French Rivieras, visiting the glamorous towns and scenic villages. Imagine, you can go East or West on a discovery tour of this diverse coastline.

Itinerary

Day 1 Departure
A morning departure to Dover and our ferry crossing to Calais. We then continue to our overnight hotel.

Day 2 Travel to Diano Marina
A day of ever-changing scenery as we drive via the city of Lyon following the River Rhône, continuing our journey southwards into Italy to our resort of Diano Marina where we shall be staying for six nights.

Days 3-7 At leisure
At leisure in Diano Marina with four included excursions. With fine sandy beaches, Diano Marina lies in a position sheltered by hills covered with olive trees, which gently slope down to the sea.

Included Excursion
Full Day Santa Margherita & Portofino A guided excursion along the Ligurian Coast to Santa Margherita. Enjoy a stroll along the sea front and around the old town and take in the atmosphere of this delightful resort. In the early afternoon, we take a boat cruise to visit the neighbouring resort of Portofino.

Full Day Monaco & Monte Carlo by night An included guided excursion to Monaco and Monte Carlo by night. This is a very special excursion, showing you the Principality at its best. Enjoy the afternoon on the Rock of Monaco and then the unique atmosphere of Monte Carlo by night. Leaving the hotel early afternoon, we travel over the border to the South of France, visiting first one of the country’s most important perfume laboratories, where the secrets of the perfume industry will be revealed. Then on to the Principality of Monaco, with the chance to visit the Grimaldi Palace and the famous Jacques Cousteau Institute. Enjoy an optional dinner in a typical local restaurant before we move on to Monte Carlo to enjoy the sights and atmosphere of the summer evening. A visit to the most famous casino in the world is not to be missed (dress code applies).

Full Day Secrets of the Italian & French Rivieras A guided excursion to show you the secrets of the Italian and French Rivieras. Enjoy the spectacular Italian coastline and discover the valleys and hidden villages. We first visit the old stone village of Dolceacqua. Enjoy an optional Ligurian lunch, and of course, the local wine. Then on to delightful Menton, the favourite winter resort of Queen Victoria. This is the town of lemons, and you will see for yourself the importance of the citrus fruits to this area.

Included Excursion
Half Day Alassio A half day excursion to Alassio. Taking a drive along the Ligurian coastline, you have the opportunity to visit one of its most delightful resorts.

Day 8 Travel to overnight hotel
After breakfast we leave Diano Marina, heading back into France to our overnight hotel.

Last Day Travel home
We depart for Calais and our ferry crossing to Dover, arriving home during the evening.

Venue Information

Hotel Nettuno, Diano Marina
We stay at the family-run Hotel Nettuno, situated in an elevated quiet part of Diano Marina close to the town centre, promenade and beach. Facilities include restaurant and lounge bar. All en-suite bedrooms have a hairdryer, satellite TV, telephone and tea & coffee making facilities. Some rooms are situated in an annexe just a few yards from the main hotel.
