Description
For 2010 we are moving to Angers, one of the most attractive towns in France, famous for its floral displays and for the local wine, Rosé d’Anjou.
Itinerary
Day 1 Departure
A morning departure to Dover and our ferry crossing to Calais, we continue south by-passing Paris and on to Angers and the lovely Loire Valley.
Days 2-4 At leisure
At leisure in Angers with two included excursions. Angers is the capital of the ancient county of Anjou & stands majestically on the banks of the Maine.
Included Excursion
New Full Day Saumur & Usse A full day excursion to Saumur. We follow the River Loire to Saumur, dominated by its castle. The town lies on both banks of the Loire. We continue to Usse passing the original “Sleeping Beauty” Castle which inspired the writer of the fairy tale. We return to Angers via the historic towns of Azay-le-Rideau and Chinon.
Included Excursion
New Full Day Tours A full day excursion to Tours, capital of the old province of Touraine. Tours has a picturesque square in the heart of the Old Town. Worth visiting is the Cathedral, a fine example of Gothic architecture. We also see the châteaux of Villandry and Langeais.
Last Day Travel home
We depart for Calais and our ferry crossing to Dover, arriving home during the evening.

Mercure Angers Centre Gare, Angers
We stay for 4 nights at the Mercure Angers Centre Gare located in the heart of the City centre. The hotel facilities include a lounge bar, brasserie restaurant & lift to all floors. All bedrooms are en-suite and have a TV & hairdryer. (Please Note: Meals are provided at a restaurant adjoining the hotel).
