Itinerary
DAY 1 LONDON • TYROL
We begin with Titan HiTours VIP Home Departure Service™ to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport and your direct, scheduled British Airways to Munich or Innsbruck. On arrival we transfer to Stans and our hotel the Schwarzbrunn, where a welcome drink awaits you.
DAY 2 INNSBRUCK
This morning we make the short drive to Innsbruck for a guided walking tour. The city reached the height of its cultural and political importance during the 14th century under the Hapsburg dynasty. The main street of the Old Town is the Herzog-Friedrich Strasse and, close by is the beautiful Baroque Cathedral of St Jacob, built in 1720. The afternoon is at leisure.
DAY 3 TYROLEAN VILLAGES
Today, we explore the region of the Wetterstein Mountains visiting Seefeld, an elegant country resort. It earned an especially high reputation as a ski resort and has hosted the Winter Olympics on two occasions. We continue through the gap town of Mittenwald to Garmisch, situated on the edge of the Bavarian Alps. The old parish Church stands on the left bank of the Loisach, in a picturesque district where chalets have been carefully preserved.
DAY 4 TYROLEAN MOUNTAINS
After breakfast, we set off for a wonderful scenic drive through the Tyrolean countryside. We follow the River Inn to Jenbach, where we make the steep climb by cog and steam railway to Achensee, and board our boat for a cruise on Lake Achensee, amidst breathtaking scenery. We return to our hotel for dinner.
DAY 5 RATTENBERG • JENBACH • MAYRHOFEN
After breakfast, we depart for Rattenberg, once a tiny frontier town, which has retained its Early Renaissance charm and appearance. This town is famed for its handicrafts and engraved glassware. From Jenbach, we step back in time on a nostalgic ride by steam train through the beautiful Zillertal Valley. We continue to Mayrhofen at the foot of the mountains where there is time for lunch. We later return to Stans.
DAY 6 TYROL • SALZBURG
After breakfast, we take a guided walking tour of Old Salzburg. The Cathedral, built between 1614 and 1655, is a fine example of the Baroque style and shows the last features of the Italian Renaissance, while Mozart’s birthplace and house are museums of his life and works. This afternoon is free for further exploration before dinner at our hotel, the Renaissance in Salzburg.
DAY 7 SALZBURG
Today, we take a tour of the Salzkammergut region. Following the shores of Lake Mondsee, we arrive at the historic town of Mondsee with its Benedictine Abbey. From St Gilgen we cross the Wolfgang Lake by boat to the pretty lakeside village of St Wolfgang, which has been a place of pilgrimage since the 12th century. Or extend your stay - call for details
