This holiday includes 7 breakfasts
A land rich in natural and architectural beauty, Andalucia uniquely combines the old world with modern Mediterranean sophistication. Bordered by the Atlantic and framed in the north and south-east by mountain ranges, it offers contrasts - from fertile valleys and farmland to the Sierra Nevada snow-capped mountains. Its great cities are legendary - as is its hospitality.
Itinerary
DAY 1 LONDON • MALAGA • RONDA
We begin with Titan HiTours VIP Home Departure Service™™ to London Heathrow or London Gatwick Airport and our direct, scheduled British Airways flight to Malaga. On arrival, our coach transfers us to Ronda, one of the most ancient cities in Spain. Our hotel, the Reina Victoria, has panoramic views over the valley below.
DAY 2 RONDA • JEREZ
The 500ft gorge, El Tajo, separates the ancient town from the modern quarters. The magnificent Puente Nuevo (New Bridge) dramatically spans this gaping ravine. In the morning, we tour on foot this delightful hilltown. Birthplace of Vicente Espinel, who added the 5th string to the flamenco guitar and the first bullring was built here in 1785. We then travel to Jerez, and our hotel, the Sherry Park, which is ideally located in its own delightful grounds.
DAY 3 JEREZ • SEVILLE
Jerez’s wealth has been derived from its locally produced sherry and, today, you will have a chance to visit a bodega. The town is equally famous for its equestrian activities and breeds fine examples of Arabian and Andalucian horses. From here we travel to Seville, which has inspired more operas than any other city, and attracted many writers and painters. The Tryp Macarena is our hotel for the next two nights.
DAY 4 SEVILLE
Seville was successful under the Romans, Visigoths and the Moors, and owes much of its fame and fortune to the River Guadalquivir. We begin our tour passing by the Alcazar, a former Arabic palace and fortress. We continue to the Cathedral, the third largest in the world and burial place of Columbus, which shares the same site as the Great Mosque. We also see the old Jewish quarter, Maria Luisa Park and Plaza de Espana. This afternoon, we leave you free and this evening you have the option to see a Flamenco show.
DAY 5 SEVILLE • CORDOBA
An early morning departure for Cordoba, birthplace of the philosophers Seneca and Maimonides, and one of Europe’s most important cities in the 11th century. Its distinctive landmark, the Mezquita, is one of the largest mosque-cathedrals in the world. Some of the most beautiful churches and squares can be found in the area, where the styles of Gothic and Mudejar come together. This afternoon, you have time to explore at leisure. Our hotel is the Hotel Cordoba Center.
DAY 6 CORDOBA • GRANADA
Ubeda is our first stop today, and the dazzling Plaza Vazquez de Molina. We continue to the fascinating town of Baeza, an ancient stronghold of the Moors. Later we arrive in Granada, situated in the fertile valley at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and spend the next two nights at the Granada Center hotel.
DAY 7 GRANADA
Granada is a historic and distinctive city with splendid Renaissance, Baroque and Neo-Classical monuments. The most spectacular is the fortified palace, the Alhambra, known as The ‘Red Castle’ as a result of the russet coloured stone used in its construction. The only medieval Arab palace still in existence, it is recognised as one of the wonders of the world. Or extend your stay - call for details
