Rodengo • Vipiteno • Bolzano • Lake Garda • Verona • Sirmione •
This holiday includes 7 breakfasts and 5 evening meals
The majestic and rugged beauty of the Dolomites, and the natural beauty of the valleys, contrast wonderfully with pastel-painted towns and quaint villages that nestle along the shores of Lake Garda. We visit several towns in the Dolomites, where life is more relaxed and the invigorating air provides a sense of well being that is matched by the friendliness and hospitality of the local people. From our base near Lake Garda, we visit Verona, Sirmione and Malcesine.
Itinerary
DAY 1 LONDON • DOLOMITES
We begin with Titan HiTours VIP Home Departure Service™™ to London Gatwick Airport for your direct, scheduled British Airways flight to Verona, Venice or Bologna. Our coach then takes us to the heart of the Dolomites in Rodengo, where we will stay at the family run Hotel Alpenland Rodeneggerhof for the next four nights with dinner included each night.
DAY 2 VIPITENO • BRESSANONE
Today we visit Vipiteno, which is typically Tyrolean with its geranium-filled balconies and wood panelled inns, although the streets are lined with Renaissance buildings. This afternoon we travel to Bressanone, one of the oldest towns in the area, to wander through the enchanting old lanes and pass the Gothic town houses.
DAY 3 BRUNICO • ORTISEI
Our first stop today is Brunico, overlooked by a medieval castle and where you may wish to spend some time in the town’s folklore museum. We continue to Ortisei and enjoy a cable car ride over the Seisser Alm region, scattered with Alpine meadows and wooden farmsteads.
DAY 4 RODENGO
You are at leisure to enjoy the spectacular scenery or take part in an optional excursion to a local dairy.
DAY 5 RODENGO • BOLZANO • LAKE GARDA
This morning we drive to Bolzano, which was passed over to Italy after the First World War but still maintains a distinctly Austrian feel with arcaded streets and numerous outdoor cafés. While here, you may choose to visit the Archaeological Museum, where you can see the 5300 year old “Ice Man” found in the glaciers of the Alps. After lunch we travel through the Trentino region and make a stop in the capital, Trento, before arriving at our hotel near Lake Garda, the Hotel Diana, San Zeno di Montagne, where dinner and a welcome drink are included this evening.
DAYS 6 VERONA • SIRMIONE
Your highlight today will be a guided tour of Verona where you will see ‘Juliet’s balcony’ and the impressive 1st century AD Roman Arena, which is now used for the world renowned annual Festival of Opera. This afternoon we visit the charming, historic town of Sirmione and you may wish to take a boat ride on the lake. The Scaligeri Castle still retains the drawbridge machinery and embattlements used to defend the whole southern peninsula.
DAY 7 MALCESINE
Also known as the ‘Riviera of Olives’, Malcesine was loved by many celebrated writers and artists, most notably Goethe. Here you can take a cable car ride to further admire the scenery. OR EXTEND YOUR STAY - CALL FOR DETAILS
