Dinner on day 8
One of the most extraordinary legacies of the last Ice Age, which covered North America about 10,000 years ago, is the vast expanse of fresh water that makes up the Great Lakes of Ontario. On this tour we take you to Canada’s heartland, still so dramatic and unspoiled. Included also are the great cities of Toronto and Ottawa and a visit to the awe-inspiring Niagara Falls.

Itinerary
DAY 1 LONDON • TORONTO
We begin with Titan HiTours Home Departure Service to London Heathrow Airport and your scheduled Air Canada flight direct to Toronto. On arrival we transfer to our conveniently located hotel, the Metropolitan Toronto.
DAY 2 TORONTO
This morning we have arranged for a brief city tour of Toronto to introduce you to the contrasting elements that make up this exciting city. The modern shopping malls and skyscrapers stand entwined with the restored 19th century buildings and the Harbourfront has been reclaimed from the old docks into an imaginative selection of shops, restaurants and seating areas offering fine views. After the tour you are free to begin your own explorations of Toronto. There is a veritable feast of shopping and dining opportunities for you to discover and your tour manager will be on hand to offer you advice. Before you leave, the CN Tower is a must, offering a 360 degree view of the city and is especially spectacular at sunset.
DAY 3 TORONTO • OTTAWA
We depart Toronto for our journey to Ottawa, whose combination of modern man-made amenities and natural beauty, offers you one of the most striking capital cities. Our journey takes us via Kingston, gateway to the beautiful 1,000 Islands region where we make our lunchtime stop. Kingston has been an Indian Village, a French Fortress, a British Citadel and briefly from 1841-1843, the capital of Canada. Our journey to Ottawa continues and on arrival we transfer to our hotel, the Crowne Plaza.
DAY 4 OTTAWA
This most homely of capital cities owes its charm not so much to imposing buildings but more to its flower bedecked parks and the tree-lined drives along the Rideau Niagara Falls Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which wanders through and out of the city. We make a short city tour this morning and visit the Parliament Hill area guarded by members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. With such a choice of things to do and see, including concerts and theatre, we have left the remainder of the day and evening free.
DAY 5 OTTAWA
We are free again today to ensure you fully experience all that Ottawa has to offer its visitors. Why not take time to enjoy an optional river cruise that will allow you unique views of the Parliament Buildings, Rideau Falls and the Prime Minister’s Residence.
DAY 6 OTTAWA • NORTH BAY
We travel along the south side of the Algonquin Provincial Park, for many the quintessential Canadian landscape. White and red pines dominate the eastern section, giving way to hardwood forests of maple, beech and yellow birch. Wildlife is as varied as the flora, the stillness often broken by birdsong and the screech of ravens. Along the Parkway Corridor we will be stopping for lunch at the Portage Store. Before leaving Algonquin at the west gate, we stop at the Ragged Falls. Travelling north via Huntsville and Collander we continue to North Bay, an old canoe route to the west on the shores of Lake Nipissing and our hotel for the night, the Best Western North Bay.
DAY 7 NORTH BAY • SAULT STE. MARIE
Leaving North Bay this morning, we travel to Sudbury, the town located on the largest single source of nickel in the world. We have arranged an included visit to the world famous Science North building, where visitors are invited to participate in the most advanced and exciting presentation of scientific achievement and work to save endangered species. From Sudbury we travel through the raw natural beauty of Northern Ontario, following the winding road towards the great Lake Huron and west to Sault Ste. Marie and our hotel for the next two nights, the Great Northern hotel.
DAY 8 SAULT STE. MARIE • LAKE SUPERIOR
Free time this morning before we venture north along the shores of Lake Superior. Lake Superior is the largest of the five great lakes of North America and the largest freshwater lake in the world. Following this leisurely exploration we return to Sault Ste. Marie and have time to prepare for this evenings excursion. We enjoy a sightseeing lock tour in the comfort of the ‘Chief Shingwauk’, a modern 70-foot vessel. We experience ‘locking through’ one of the busiest canal systems in the world and we will also be provided with a sumptuous buffet dinner.
DAY 9 SAULT STE. MARIE • COLLINGWOOD
From Sault Ste. Marie we retrace our steps along the shores of the North Channel as far as Espanola, where we turn south for Whitefish Falls. Continuing to Manitoulin Island and taking the ferry from South Baymouth to Tobermory we cross Georgian Bay. From the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula we travel south to Owen Sound and on to Collingwood and the Blue Mountain Inn, our home for the next two nights.
DAY 10 COLLINGWOOD
The Blue Mountain Resort is the perfect place to do as little or as much as you wish. Today is free to relax and enjoy all that the Village at Blue has to offer. Whether it is sitting back in simple serenity, making use of the hotel’s excellent facilities, walking, shopping or fine dining, the Resort has all the answers within easy reach.
DAY 11 COLLINGWOOD • NIAGARA FALLS
WWe depart for Midland and the reconstructed 17th century Jesuit mission of Sainte Marie among the Hurons. The chapel, forge, sawpit carpentry shop and native area are ‘peopled’ by historical interpreters in 17th century costume. We travel on to Niagara Falls and transfer to our hotel, the Crowne Plaza Fallsview, where the remainder of the evening is free to make your first discoveries of the town..
DAY 12 NIAGARA FALLS
Set in delightful parkland, the Falls can be viewed from walkways, underground tunnels, the Skylon Tower or one of the famous Maid of the Mist boats. There will even be the opportunity for you to experience a helicopter flight over the falls. We have left today free for you to fully enjoy all that this unique town has to offer.
